Thanks for the heads up mate. I've peaked in the windows a few times (usually a Sunday) so I might come down and have a look. What's the story behind the Schumacher Cobra?

Build for the man himself.
Artical was in Street Machine Magazine 2 months ago.

There is a full article in this months Street Machine.

Very nice car, but why the hell would you not buy a Kirkham if budget is not an issue?

Budget may not be an issue but think he may have wanted a car built by a fellow racer..**)

BMK 09-19-2008 05:01 AM

May call in also. Look forward to catching up with you all. A great run for the new XR8 ute..**) **) The GT40 is still under re build..%/

boxhead 09-19-2008 03:27 PM

Will the 40 be ready in time and bought to the Nationals?

BMK 09-19-2008 04:26 PM

boxhead

Hi mate look forward to possibly catching up there.

I'm very limited in time, so will possibly only get up there for a day - or at a real stretch two days. I cancelled the USA trip to Run N Gun due to commitments here.

I've been doing some home renovations/sales and I have a full weekend with sign offs with builders etc. With more work renovations and extensions starting the Tuesday after the Nationals, I'm heading back home as quick as possible.

**)

So a long answer to say the GT40 will not be there and I may get there for the day or two...

Nice Morning Out

It was a mild and sunny Sunday in South Melbourne when we went to visit George and Maggie at Python Vehicles.

When I first moved out of home with a couple of friends it was to a place in South Melbourne not far from Python and it was seeing Georges blue cobra and going in and talking to him that planted the idea that I could own one of these cars.

I have to say that I found the Python chassis, and in-particular the suspension, was a pretty good looking unit and hard to fault.

George had a couple of cars under construction that we were able to pour over

rear end

front end (in case you hadn't figured that out)

As with (practically) everyone else George is now using the LS engines on account of compliance - Personally I am getting over this and have found that they don't look that out of place (if you close one eye - and squint a lot with the other and sort of look in a different direction ;) )

At last look the python website was still showing the specs with the 4.6 quad cam (web site is worth a look to get a feel of the place)

http://www.python.au.com/main%20home.htm

We also were able to see the Schumacher Cobra (I'm sure there's some pithy ironic joke to be made about a cobra being commissioned for a Ferrari driver but I just can't find it)

George was happy to talk about the car and the circumstances that lead to the commission. To boil it down - he races one and the Ferrari guy was impressed with that...

George's racing and the subsequent racer development is reflected in the vehicles he produces.

old racer (about to be pensioned off) next to the blue car that first got my attention.

Maggie was her usual calm and gracious self - even bought back a bag of hot jam doughnuts from the local market for us to share :D

Its nice to have different open days like these to see what people are up to and get a perspective of different cars and ideas. Much appreciated George and Maggie.

Andy.
