Hi all,
I havent posted for a while because I have been waiting for my chassis/body to arrive for 5 months. Been reading lots but havent had anything constructuve to say or ask. Well the day happended a day earlier than expected. I was expecting it today. Last night I was actually going out to have a hit of tennis and next thing my mobile rings and its the "truck guy" saying he’ll be there in 20 mins. Havent stopped grinning yet. My sons had some friends over at the time so they thought they'd get in on the photo. (I'm the big kid in the drivers seat). Havent figured out how to do larger photos yet. Havent tried much. Lots of late nights and weekends for me now. Didnt sleep a wink last night. Have been assembling all of my other bits over the last couple of months. Got my guages from Howards (nice company to deal with), Tyres from Tirerack (got them when the Aus dollar was at 97cents) and wheels are a couple of weeks away from OZWheels in NSW. Had to use local supplier due to 2008 chassis having VZ/VE hubs stud patterns. Header tank from Shaun. Have my lights, wiring and seats and seat belts all ready to go as well. T56 shifter already moved forward. Sideshow did my engine loom mods - good job. Now ALL I have to do is put it all together. The fun begins. Rgds Gregg |
Congratulations gregg - keep us up to date and lots more pics. Like to see how the new model looks on the inside - apparntly there is more cockpit space? Im still enjoying every minute I spend on mine nearly 3 years on....:)

Well Gregg The fun starts here, sounds like your ahead of the game already, Just remember when it does'nt fit get a bigger hammer RRLMAO no no walk away have a breather and come back tomorrow.
Go hard cant wait to watch the progress, Barker Real men smoke Rubber |
Congratulations, would love to see more pics of the new car. When it comes to pictures, a lot is still not enough. Good luck with the build, Ive been going since June 2002 and even though its sometimes frustrating its been the best experience.
Regards. |
Thanks everyone.
I will upload some more pics soon. The cockpit (I believe) has a little more leg room as the floor is lowrer due to the chassis now using round tube in the main rails rather than rectangular. Rgds Gregg |
Welcome Gregg!
Sounds like you are aiming for a quick build! Ben |

I have been saving for a long time and took about a year to decide and get all of my suppliers of different bits lined up and then went and got it all at once. I cheated a bit by getting a rolling chassis. But for me this was a good idea as I am more electrical/electronics savvy than mucking around with brakes and suspension. Rgds Gregg |
Just checking your chassis number Gregg - In 3 years Ians gone from 3199 to 3505.....306 cars. Bloody hell - I thought these (acording to the web site) were only built in "limited quantities"...:)

Congratulations Gregg,
Lots of fun ahead! That first time you get your kit home is a great feeling. I reckon everyone has sat in their empty bodyshell and made Brum Brum noises on that first day. Cheers |
And those without engines still do it on a regular basis Mike! %/
Congratulations and best of luck with the build Gregg. :3DSMILE: |
Thanks guys.
Good luck whoever is going to Nationals. I reckon I'll be there next year. I think my biggest challenge is Exhaust etc. I have been watching the posts over the last 6 months. Given that the floor is lower in the CR2008 chassis the exhaust has to go along the sides under the footwell etc. I'll be asking questions about this one in the future. Might see if any CR owners have an underbody lying around that might suit. Rgds Gregg |
I havent had an engine in mine for about 2 months now and I waiting till its just about ready to drive before I take the windscreen out to get the slkobber off from my pretend noises. Word of warning it is best to do the brm brm thing just before going to bed.
