I don't think you'd ever get this regoed in Aus.
|
If the car was registered in the US and imported as a registered car with an engine made in the year it is claimed then there are ways of registering them here.
We have in the NSW club a LHD Superperformance built around 2003-2004 with a 1966 428 motor. The car was registered in the US as a 1966 Shelby Cobra ( as they register cars on the year of manufacture of the engine)and imported here this year and registered in NSW the same, thereby being a 1966 vehicle and not having to be converted to RHD nor pass all the state's archaic rules- working sidepipes, wipers etc. Not disclosing costs, but it was a bargain;) |
CSX9210R I didn't realize they had made that many CSX's by now...wow!
Business must be great. |

or how about this |
Bryan,
Hi mate. The US market at the moment has a number of Cobras for sale. The 'For Sale' section here on the forum shows some very good bargains. Unfortunately, the dollar is down but 4 or 5 months ago would have been a great time to buy and import. The bargains are still there however. Importing a Cobra is quite easy if it is registered/titled as a '66. As suggested the car is considered a '66 and being over 30 years can stay in that configuration. This is legal and acceptable. I have seen this GT40 around for a while. It has been advertised in Unique Cars and Just Cars for a while. It is not registered and may qualify for Club rego or Permit rego. Would not make full rego here.. I think the add in Unique cars suggested it would not be road registered - or was that the link... Fun though Bernie |
