Black and white tiles?

Just looking at using some black and white vinyl tiles in my garage and wondered if anyone had some ideas on good quality tiles.

I have seen the packs of tiles at 'Clark Rubber', 'Bunnings' and 'Mitre 10' but they look to be unsuitable for driving on...%/

I will tile only 12 sqm of floor, as I have coated the floor in a stone finish that is a two pack concrete coating. So I can spend a little more....

Any thoughts on a local Australian supplier..

Thanks for any input

Bernie

Home Depot has some nice ones for a garage.
Good Luck! Bruce :JEKYLHYDE

costco do them worldwide but they are a thinner tile from the manufacturer to get the infamous costco discount; quite good value though and the box pic even has a cobra on it!!!!

Thanks for the links.

I'm trying to find tiles locally. May go to an overseas supplier, if I'm unsuccessful here in Australia...%/

Greg, do you have any idea what that Race Deck stuff costs per square metre? Or to cover the floor of a standard 2 car garage? Say 20' x 24'.

Cheers

I do but not with me (on holiday's) it's not cheap but does look great I will be home on the weekend I will try and find out for you.

Greg, thanks for offering but I've received a speedy reply from the supplier and it's a little out of the budget. By all reports a great product, but I can make better use of the money right now (headers, wheels, tyres, radiator, wiring...).

I used a standard VCT 1/8" thick commercial tile, pure white and pure black on a diagnal pattern. I installed it about 5 or 6 years ago. No problems.

Thanks let me know what you have left. More than happy to pay and cover shipping.

I have not had much luck here, I have tried all the big major hardware outlets and two floor companies. I'm waiting an email back from a vinyl supplier - Pirelli tiles....

VCT tile

I had 900 square feet of my garage covered with the 1/8 inch commerical tile by a professional flooring company. It works great and I did put a good sealer on it to fill the joints and prevent water from getting under the tile. I choose the black and white tile that is not perfectly black or white, much cheaper and looks great. I think I paid $1.50 for tile and installation...I tried the do it yourself route once with stick down tiles without much success. Spend the extra money, will help the economy too!!!!

Thanks yes think I'll get it layed by a pro.

There is not a lot of plain old flat white and black tiles. You know the 300mm x 300mm tiles - 12" x 12".

Will keep looking locally then I'll resort to the States to get some...%/

Hey Bernie,

Sorry but I can't resist. It's always good to get laid by a pro...hahaha...

Know what you mean about the garage pics on their website. My garage has the basic concrete slab look.

Happy New Year to you! Always enjoy seeing the fireworks over the opera house in Sydney to start the festivities!

Cheers,

Rick

Rick.

Yes, I am looking at a few updates to the garage to make it a little better than the average. I have added a full garge cupboard and shelf unit and have a four post in there now.

The black and white floor would just finish it off and stop engine pull downs on the floor..

Have a good New year.

Racedeck

I saw the Racedeck product at Summernats and its a top bit of gear.

Comes in various colours.

Geofs Garage sells it locally (SA) at $60 per m2. Easy to lay yourself :JEKYLHYDE

Phil,

Thanks exactly what I want. I will use the small black and white and edge strips that are under the red ute in his photos.

I just sent an email for costing on 20sqm and edge strips in black and white.

Thanks again Phil.
