Hi Tuska,

I purchased my tyres in the US and had them FedEx'd to me in Aus...

Quite a few of the guys here in Aus have done the same and "tirerack" as a supplier seem to get a good wrap for price/service...

My tyres are Michelin Pilot Sports 335/35/17 and 295/45/17 - very happy with the grip...too soon to comment on the longevity or wear characteristics....but all good so far!

Regards......Paul

We fit Sumitomo tyres to some of our cars.

We use Sumitomo HTR Z III where available.

And the older Sumitomo HTR Z where we need the larger sizing.

If you want go with wide looking rubber you could fit:

Sumitomo HTR Z III 245/45ZR18 to 17 x 8"

Sumitomo HTR Z 315/35ZR18 to 17 x 10"

Test report here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...irePageLocQty=

Hope that helps.

Paul, we fit the Pilot Sports to our SL-C kits. 295/35ZR18 & 345/30ZR18. What are you worried about wear for, it's all about grip isn't it. And that LS7 certainly won't help your rear tyre life. ;)

Sumitomo from Tire Rack. 315/35/17 for the backs are around 100.00 there.

275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear. Superformance MkIII 40k miles

I've run Goodyear GS-D3s, Sumitomo HTR Z (believe this is the model) and Veredestein Ultrac Sessanta.

I like the Goodyears the best, then the Sessantas and then the Sumitomos. All are good but the Goodyears shine over all and worth the price even though they are the most expensive. The Sumitomos are not in the same league as the other two but good tires for the price.

I've had all on road tracks and lots of road and rain experience.

I've run the Goodyears and the Sumitomos on my Audi '01 S4 and my analysis of the tires is the same.

I got the Tire Rack (Indiana I seem to recall) Sumitomos HTR Z III (235 and 275's). Was then about $690 for the 4, delivered by FedEx.

I have Sumitomo's on my car now, and they don't stick very well in the rear (Even for a 560+hp cobra). I have driven another SPF with Pilot's and they were stickier. The only problem with a sticky tire though is rock chips. I think I will keep the Sumitomo's on the front and go with some drag radials on the rear.

400TT 03-09-2009 05:10 PM

Yeah, drag radials on the rear are a very good option if you want to increase some straight line grip on the street.

With the Sumitomo's we have found the latest HTR Z III significantly better than the older models.

How did you organise the freight? From in auz or was it all done from us end?
cheers glen

400TT 03-09-2009 05:46 PM

Tire Rack will ship directly to us here in Aus.

I have other means of course.

I just called Tire Rack on Skype and did it all on the phone.
