Hi Guys,

I have been following this thread with interest as I am about to embark on the paint process myself.

I would be interested to hear from some of the guys in Melbourne who are having their cars painted or have had their cars painted, with regards to who they used and the cost as compared with the other states.

I have found it very hard to find a painter that wants to paint fibreglass and when you tell them what you have they just seem to want to get stuck into you price wise.

I have no problem in paying for a good paint job but I am having trouble finding guys that have paintd cobras before.

So any info or contacts would be greatly appreicated.

Rod

Rod, try Dave Cassar 03 59756785. Please let us know how you go with him. How about posting some pictures.

Regards.

Hi Gregg,
can you let me know where your high mount stop light comes from please?
Did it come with some sort of gasket to go between it and the body?

Regards.

Hi Mando,

I got it from Ian at CR. No it doesnt come with a gasket and there is a little bit of gap on the edges due to curve on body. I am still thinking about what to do about that - probably will buy some rubber for a gasket.

Mando,

Thanks for the info I will give Dave a ring.

Gregg and Cameron have also given me the number of the painter who is painting their cars too, so at least I now have a couple of options.

I was thinking it would be great if we had list of painters in each state so everybody could contact recomended painters that other guys have used.

With regards to posting photos I have been reading the info on posting photos and I am going to give it go. If all else fails I can always get the kids to do it.

Thought some of you guys might like to see the latest paint job from the same painter that "Merv and Sharon" used here on the Gold Coast.

This is Wayne Proctor's car, and has been seen around for the past couple of years in white gelcoat.

This was another $6,000 job....and it's come up beautifully......

Hope he keeps up the good work long enough to get my new toy over to him....

But that might be some months away yet.

Cheers,

Warren.

Wayne's car looks bloody beut. Thats what I want mine to look like but was not sure about how straight the body would look in black.
Warren make sure he charges you lots so he is still in bussiness when I get back
I was quoted 10k for a complete job by a custom hot rod shop in Redlands. 6k I think is a very very good especially if it looks like that.

That's very pretty!! Very very Pretty! Maybe Wayne's going to have to drop a few secs off his lap times to avoid a potential paint scratching, stone chipping moment!! We can only hope he slows down a bit so we can all catch him!!

Very nice paintwork!!

Thanks Warren. Yes they know fibreglass those guys. Both effective and time efficient. I have been very pleased with mine as well.

Lovely car!

Roda,

Lets go a little further and have a list of those Painters that we wouldn't recommend. I can start the list if you like.

Baz,

I think a list of both would be fantastic.

That way hopefully we can all avoid disapointment.

Hopefully my colour will be going on today. Not bad. He's had the car for 3 months.
