Lucas Reproduction Light lenses - Clear

Where can you buy in Australia the CLEAR Lucas (type) reproduction lenses for the indicator and/or stop lamps? They are probably not ADR-compliant even with the coloured bulbs, but they do look good!

I have 4 for after rego to replace the amber indicators as I like the look of the clear. I sourced these on ebay some time ago. As far as Im aware you cant get the clear ones with an E mark. In fact the ones I have look like they come out of the same mold as the amber - and then they stamped out the E mark?

Cheers
:)

Merv - just did a bit of a search and found these:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Lucas-Type-L6...3286.m20.l1116

it says they ARE E marked as well? I have bought from these guys (in the UK) before. $28 delivered for 2 is pretty good I reckon.

You are a good one! Yes I like the look. Geof has them on his up here. I guess I could stay with the red stop lights!

The 'site says that they are L691 lenses but says 77mm. Mine are 67mm. May be a typo so will check first.

Merv, I got mine through Snakebite some time ago including the orange lamps and they are E-marked. I still havent decided if Ill go with them.

Regards.

Merv and Sharon 05-03-2009 04:34 AM

Was just checking the Snakebite stuff and they seem even bigger - 80mms. Seems the Repros of the original Lucas are 77 and mine - LEP (E marked, via Harrisons) are 67-70mm!!! The plot thickens....

Lenses

Merv

Are yours the Land Rover lamps? I have these and sourced the clear lenses from a 4x4 shop in Rocklea, if I remember rightly. They are around 68mm diameter. I initially tried Land Rover spares and they wanted $60 for one. I paid much less than that for all six!!

Cheers

i do not know if they will ship to you but moss motors carrys the clear lens

Merv and Sharon 05-03-2009 02:30 PM

Yes, thanks Geof. If your are the same as mine, I think that they must be Land Rover as the 68mm seems just right. That 4 x4 place in Rocklea is the one on the side road off Fairfield Rd., right?

Merv, I got all mine from AES in the UK and I think they worked out to about $40 ea including the metal housing and harnesses. They have spare L691 clear lenses for about 7 quid!

Have a look here:

Thanks Sambo. They seem better value than some around the place. I have the full set and all fitted but wanted to change the lenses to clear on the indicators (with orange bulbs). Matching the size is a bit tricky as there at least 3 different diameters. I 'think' I have the Land Rover ones (67-68 mm.). I will come back to these guys if the local Land Rover spares place does not have what I need.

Thanks,

Merv

Merv

That's the one. They were cheap and they had the stock.

OK will give them a try soon Geof. They have an old Nissen hut there that they use. Amazing.

Thanks guys!

Merv, as they say, no pictures - didn't happen! Seriously, would be great to see how they look against that gunmetal duco.

WKB 05-05-2009 12:04 AM

It might not be gunmetal grey, but this is with clear lenses on the indicators and brake lights.
