I have had major problems with the engine (SBC) throughout its life and hence the low mileage. The weather in Scotland also doesn't cater for open top cars much! The weather in Perth should allow me to clock up a few 1000 kms every year though :)

Unlike Scotland there are plenty of V8's in WA so you should be able change out that SBC for a propper engine without any dramas. Can probably swap a couple of your haggis' stash (that you got past customs) to some locals.

Fortunately for you Perth seems to be a major centre for the Scottish diaspora so you'll have relatively little trouble with the language ;)

I should however caution you not to drive anything to valuable until you get used to the attire the native girls there get around in - especially in the summer months. You're going to love Perth :3DSMILE:

I've conducted a long term study over all of Australia's state capitals. I've spent many years traveling around Australia observing and collecting measurements where possible. After analyzing the data and doing some tricky statistical calculations I can announce that Perth women have a significantly larger average boob size than any other Aussie city. :)

purge98 09-02-2009 09:13 PM

It's something to do with the rotation of the earth I think; anyway maybe the regulations in Perth require a mesh on the front to stop inadvertent insertion into the fans of said protrusions.

Oh and don't forget to drive to several of their nudist beaches to check out Mike's statistics for yourself.

I'd concur, it is a wonderfull place in summer, though that's the only time I've been there, but I'd move there if I had to.

The grille request is becoming more common in QLD now and I am told that the Bundall inspection station at the Gold Coast is asking for one. Problem is if we start fitting one in anticipation of a State authority asking for one, then they will expect it!

Hi Purge98,

Welcome to the wild west.

It sounds like just the normal rego kind of stuff they are asking for now, just smile and do as they ask and change it back after if you like, it's the only way you will get plates. Rob from G force cobra's is just round the corner at O"Connor and may be able to help with a rego grille etc etc.

I have some temp exhaust covers you can borrow if you like.

I did have to get a weigh bridge docket along with an exemption for the left hand side side pipe and an exemption to be able to run full race harnesses.

They ask for some wierd stuff my tyres are not the same aspect ratio and it went over the very same pits only a few months ago with no comment and with no grille. Go figure.

We will have to arrange a run to blow those flies away in the not too distant future.

Mike, your theory is correct.

purge98 09-04-2009 04:55 AM

Thanks for the comments guys. At least I'm not alone. Maybe the examiner didn't like me "cos I am is a pom" and he is a cricket fenatic.

No mention of the left side exhaust or full race harness. He did give it a once over and tried to find a marking of some sort on it but then went on his merry way.

I just hope when I return for the retest more things aren't picked on.

I'll get up some pics soon and Cobber I'll meet up once I get established.

*Cobber* 09-04-2009 05:12 AM

Jason,

They can only pick on the stuff on the list in theory as long as you get it back over the pits before this inspection form runs out. Get busy boy summer is on the way and the beaches are full of peaches.

Merv and Sharon 09-04-2009 06:40 AM

Any pics Cobber?

*Cobber* 09-06-2009 05:12 PM

The beaches or the peaches?

Just an update of where I am with importing a Dax Tojeiro into WA from the UK...

Got a company in Booragoon to modify the car as per the local testing station requirements:

Side exhausts mesh covers
Raise the car
Flywheel cover plate
Reversing light
Mesh in mouth
Rear tyres changed to same aspect as front
Noise? What noise?
Affixed Personal Import Licence plate

It passed today :)

Shot down with the signed paperwork to licensing centre and I am now the proud owner of a set of WA number plates. They are being fixed on now and I am picking up the car tomorrow.

Now where shall I go?

(Pics to follow in a couple of days)

Well Done Jason

If you're looking to stretch her legs after a period of confinement might I suggest a quick run to Adelaide?

..see how she winds out ;)

Not like that, just like that....... as Tommy Cooper would say.

Not that hard in the end. Going to be a nice weekend here too.

Well done and enjoy.

We should organise a cruise this weekend???

*Cobber* 10-13-2009 06:36 PM

I'm free Saturday afternoon, meet up somewhere?

Heidelberg 10-13-2009 06:45 PM

I'd be up for a run on either Sat afternoon or Sunday morning...I'd also be happy to host the initial meeting point and coffee's at my place like we've done a few times previously??

Regards....Paul

*Cobber* 10-13-2009 06:49 PM

purge98 10-13-2009 07:49 PM

Hi Paul,

That sounds like fun. I expect the car to be ready and driveable...so Saturday it is.

You have a PM.

Adelaide may be too far for the first trip. I need to stay reasonably close to home in case of any major problems. I recently fitted a thermostatic sandwich plate and oil cooler and associated pipes and need to make sure it is all working without leaks.

The engine is overfuelling and so will need to be tuned to get the most out of it. Also I'm not sure whether the 3 inch exhaust baffles are allowing too much gas through. Can 4 strokes have too little back pressure for their own good?

Some things I might talk about on Saturday.

*Cobber* 10-19-2009 05:19 PM

Good to catch up on Saturday guys even though it was as hot as a 10 minute microwaved jam donut.

Nice Dax Jason and way too good to leave in Blighty, beautiful job well done.

it was a great line up of 427's

Paul, let us know when your next baby arrives and we will come up to wet the babies head. Is there ever a case of too many toys........
