Shower Proof cover.

Hi
Can I ask for your help? :) I don’t have a roof on the cobra, and I would like to buy a fitted shower proof cover, to protect the car while its parked outside temporarily on a coming up 3 day club run, if I can’t find a cover, I will have to leave the car at home.
Thanks (in advance)
Terry.

Also interested as some of these can get hot in the sun (when it is there!) and damage or lift the clear coat on the pain.

Hi,

I got mine from Super Cheap. The shop assistant actually seemed knowledgable about the subject and directed me away from brands which he said were problematic.

Cheers

On occasion I carry a 3mil clear plastic painters drop cloth (package unopened) just in case I got caught in an unexpected rainstorm. I think it was 10ft wide and 20 ft long. It saved me one time on the way home from the WSCB in 2007. Very compact, essentially a throwaway item, and very inexpensive, and waterproof. For long term storage (Winter) I also put it OVER the flannel cloth cover that I use in the garage (Shed to you Southerners) it keeps the dust from getting through. Never had an issue with the paint.

Duro Car Cover by Budge in the USA.

I have this one - it doesnt scratch, car breathes and easily wraps up and stored in the boot.

Excellent product

Peter, which one did you buy and is it fitted for the cobra?

There must be quality ones to be bought here? With waterproofing and abrasion resistance.

I use a cover on my daily driver. It's NOT water proof but it is totally safe and abrasive proof on the paint. It's a KENKO brand and it's made from Tyvec. The cover is so light that it floats over the car in a small breeze and dries in minutes after rain. May be throw the plastic dropsheet over the car and put the tyvec one over the lot. What I want to emphasise here is abrasion. When you find a suitable cover. Pinch a fold of the cover between your thumb and forefinger and rub the fingers back and forth. How does it feel ? Smooth...OK. If there is any sort of friction or roughness. You know what it will do to the paint. A lot of covers I looked at felt like nail files !

Thanks Pete,

Just what I was looking for. I ordered the Waterproof Car Cover from them today.

It's a made from a three layer material, consisting of an inner and outer layer of spun-bond with a layer of waterproof film in the centre. Provides superior resistance to sun, rain, dirt, dust, tree sap, bird droppings and other pollutants.

It's UV treated and has an elasticised hem, but also has reinforced , scratch proof tie-down grommets. Presented in its own storage bag with a 10 year warranty. Was $US79.99 = $US10 freight. Total $AU121.28. Bargain.

Thanks again,

Baz.

Pretty much the same here. Got an Autotechnica one that is fully water proofed and 'felt' lined and with welded seams. Same price. Worked well on test with the hose!
