block huggers
has anyone used block huggers on their motors and can anyone comment on improved or decreased performance when using them and where would be a good place to buy some for a Ford Windsor 302 EFI.

Not an authoritative response but I was of the understanding that huggers did take some sting out of the performance. Obviously any extra restriction in exhaust will do this however I can't say whether its a 5% or 50% change. Also Damo think about the remainder of your exhaust as when you do upgrade the headers you will need to change at least part of your downstream exhaust too. Cheers Mando Huggers are literally that, exhaust manifolds that hug the block ie compact. |

Block huggers are usually little short headders that tuck in close to the block as they drop down. They are great for tight installs like squeezing a V8 between the rails of a hot.
The disadvantage of them is their primary length is very short so there's not the usual advantages in flow that you get from a tuned length or even a tri-Y design header. They often don't perform much better than the stock manifolds these days. Mando what picture you refering to the hugger picture or Mikes Avatar.
The Avatar I find "interesting" Hes looking, he sees something and **** its me, get outa here. Bruce, that avatar I believe is taken from "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" (Mike will be able to confirm). In 2001 I went to San Jose over in Spain, where they shot that movie. Stayed in the one hostel / caravan park in the whole place, funnily enough owned by an Aussie and covered in eucalypt trees. There's some useless trivia for you. :)

I've been a fan of long time fan of the spagetti westerns of the 60's and 70's. With Sergio Leone directing and Enio Moriconi supplying the music you can't go wrong. I watched these movies as a kid with my Dad and they left a lasting impression on me. I've got a heap of them on DVD and still watch them regularly.
I wanted to have a go at making my own avitar (That little picture in the top corner next to your name). Previous ones had been a pic of the car shrunk down or whatever. I found a neat site on the web that lets you make your own .GIF files which are basic animated pictures. Here's an oportunity to combine my love of old westerns and Cobras. The Avitar is the stares of the 3 gunfighters in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. (Played by Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach). There's a classic 3 way gunfight at the end. Check out the scene here. If you've never watched these movies you are missing out. Cheers |
