New Ford V8
New Falcon V8 could be as early as next year, and it appears that HSV days are numbered.

:)Ah, this will be good news for all those who have had to use a GM product in the meantime ...

DOHC - bit fancy for a Ford engine don't ya think? ;)
That article quotes "Holden Performance Vehicles"... is that the same as HSV? |
Nope, Not convinced. Says it's a twin overhead cam. Maybe just a stroked 4.6.
Ford was screwing with the Jag V8 for a while ... wonder wots going on there?. |
A bit more information and photo

Not a 'pretty' engine!

I dunno Merv... coil packs on the valve covers, spaghetti intake... reminds me of the LS2!!
|
Saw a chromed 5.4 cramed into a 32 ford coup other day is was very shiney...but not very pretty either.... what would you class as a pretty motor? a polished fe?
|
I have a huge respect for ford engines but that looks very wide to me. As sambo said .. some familiar bits hanging off it.
I know...I know.... The twin overhead cams make it look wide .... but we are talking in a forum about cobras and engines to fit a cobra without extensive surgery. See here: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...012441,00.html |
This is what i went for (CLICK HERE) it is a tight fit in a Harrison but looks nice and plenty of power :D

Lovely engine HSV! I like the 'old school' look as well, with carbies or a Mas-Flo look alike. Most people see the car and not the engine but the owners probably spend more time around the engine. I guess that there is a minimum and a maximum power range that makes these cars driveable. Not sure what that is, however. The originals were lighter I think and had about 275HP.
All adds to the variety. Merv |
Your right Merv "not a pretty engine at all". Hopefully the new 5.0L will not be a similar size to the 4.6 and 5.4L engines currently on offer from Ford but a similar size to yours and mine.
Regards. |
Now yours is pretty Sambo! Mine is the basic 302, black with no sugar - for registration.
