fuel filler to tank install
I am trying to connect the fuel filler cap witht he tank. I have tried a few things but have not had things line up enough to start cutting the supplied metal pipes. Where can I get some 2 inch ID hose that is fuel resistant and flexible enough to bend as needed.
Can anyone let me know how they did theirs and the source of the materials? Thanks, Jim |
I got my fuel filler hose at NAPA, the PN is 1045.
Hope this helps you out. |
Also if you have a marine parts nearby, I bought mine there.

I usually use steel exhaust tube with a short straight of rubber on each end. If you put one bend beside the other and take a little at a time off the overlap till you have something that connects A to B. I also use a little flap valve on the bottom to stop sloshing.

I also didn't use B&Bs suggested mounting possition, but moved my filler tube to the front of the tank. Gives me room on that side for supplies!

I will give it a shot tonight.
LNFLETCHER, what size are the screws that hold the down the blockoff plate and filler tube to the tank? Did you make your own gasket and blockoff plate? What size is this tank? Thanks, Jim |
Don't forget to hook up a ground wire from the cap to the frame. Don't want a flash fire due to static. I've got a wire running from one of the gas cap flange bolts to a lug on the steel filler pipe and then to a chassis ground. Something I learned while working in a sail boat factory.

ndpace, I found the manufacturer of the tank and bought a blockoff plate from them for almost nothin. I'll try to look at my paperwork to see if I can find the source.
|
ndpace, here's the site I bought it from.
http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...rod/prd100.htm Mine was Item NBO 6 hole 3.25" plate; 3G 3 1/4 gasket and 6 10-32 screws. Hope this helps. |
When I ordered my block off plate and gasket from Tanks they asked if I had the O rings for the screws. I didn't have them for the neck so they threw some in.

I can mark this one off the list thanks to everyone here at Club Cobra, thanks for the help. I went with the alternate location like LNFLETCHER.
How many gallons do these stock B&B tanks hold? Does the gas pump automatically shut off like it should? I never really knew how that part worked Thanks again, Jim |
I believe they are 18 gallon, but my gauge makes me fill up way before it's empty. I regularly put in over 10 gallons. Mine shuts off correctly, but I try not to fill it up to that point because I get a strong fuel smell in my garage because of the venting. I don't seem to get it when I fill it to the point I can see the fuel at the bottom of the neck when filling.
If you measure your tank and use 1 Cubic Inch = 0.00432900433 Gallons, it comes out to about 18 gallons by my pea brain. |
