aluminum radiator
what aluminum 4 core radiator application will bolt right into the B&B?
Thanks, Jim |
I think it is from Griffin but don't know if it is a standard radiator or not. I would be interested to know too.
|
Jim, I think Griffin used to supply them but no longer do it. I purchased mine through B&B and had them put a fan shroud on the radiator. There have been post about them being expensive through B&B but it was worth it to not have to hassle over fitment, etc. Mine came in and bolted right up with no problems. Chas

does anyone know what B&B charges for one?
Has anyone purchased from anyone else? Thanks, Jim |
Radiator
On your 4 core what size are your tubes?
Thanks |
I was there last week. They told me Griffin. $915 according to their web site build sheet.

I started with a copper 4 core radiator and it overheated badly. A Mustang Griffin Radiator will bolt right in with a minor spacer. $585 from Summit. Running a 514cu in /550HP Big Block. Stays cool at 100 Degree days.

duke, what was the part number from Summit please. Mustang year? Thanks

I'm looking into the aluminum radiators as well (direct bolt in or very minimal fab). Looks like the best price is for the Griffin from Summit for $545 part #GRI-7-576BC-FXX
Link -> http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRI-7-576BC-FXX/ Probably same one that Duke bought, Duke can you confirm? B&B sells theirs for $750. I'm going to order the one from Summit and it should arrive on 9/23. I had a 4 core brass before, running a 351W with mild came & 16" puller fan. Got up to 215 in summer at lights. Will let you know what difference is and weight as well. |
Stock aluminum radiator was from "Aluma cool" They have a website. Call the owner and they have a special part number for B&B with the brackets already mounted. Brian

The direct bolt in from Griffin is PN 9D-14523-01. It is $625.00 and all you need to do is bolt it in as it is made for the B&B mounts. B&B wants $725.00 for it plus shipping.

I have Griffith radiators in both my Cobra and my Corvette. My experience with Griffith has not been good. The radiator in my Corvette (which is driven less than a 1,000 miles per year) started leaking around the epoxy after about eight years. I ordered a replacement from Griffith and they tried to charge me more than we agreed on the phone. They eventually got it right when I threatened to challenge the payment with my charge card company. ... When I ordered a radiator for my Cobra, I specified that I did NOT want the Griffith logo stenciled on the front for all to see. They agreed and then sent a stenciled radiator anyhow. After I complained, they eventually sent an unstenciled radiator, but the incorrect one sat in my garage for about two months before UPS got an order from Griffith to pick it up. ... All in all, they just don't impress me as a well run company.
