windshield angle
Am i dreaming or are the later cars coming with the windshield at more of an angle. my 97 b&b seems to be more vertical. The cars on the b&b site even seem more laid back.

I think I put mine at about 37-38 deg. I read on earlier threads that B&Bs were supposed to be 36-37 inches from the center rear cowl deck to the top edge of the windshield. I know Kirkhams put their's at 45 deg. I tried that but the seal just does not set right.

I replaced the bottom seal and increased the angle of mine and it seems to seal good. The problem I had was the paint was worn under the seal from the old angle, so I suggest getting it right before paint. I originally had mine at about 35 deg so that I would not be looking through the frame while driving ( I'm a larger guy), but didn't like the look so after a year or so, I changed mine. I like the look better at the steeper angle and have adjusted to the view.

Okay, its been "MANY" years since I've taken any math in school and I admit I've forgot more than I now know, sooooooooooooooo, someone help me out here and tell me "How do I figure my Windshield Angle?????

Accurate, so to speak, should be about 42 to 43 degrees as measured on a level car, at the center of the windscreen. If that's what your after anyway.

here this will be easier to understand
sin (Deg)= opposite side/ hypotenuse cos(deg)= adjacent side/ hypotenuse tan(deg)= opposite/adjacent sides deg=degrees opposite side= the length of the side opposite the angle your finding adjacent side= " " " " " adjacent to the angle your finding hypotenuse= the length of the side opposite the right angle so plug in the sides to the formula get the answer to the division and then hit the sin^-1 key or the cos^-1 key etc..... to get the angle or post the lengths and i'll tell you what angle you have |
based on the lengths you have your two angles are 54.46 and 35.53
i used 12.25 as the rise and 8.75 as the run......the top angle is the 35.53 and the bottom angle is the 54.46 |
I just use the angle finder on my iPhone. ;)

FWB, what do you mean by the top and bottom angles? Are you referring to inside and outside of the windshield?

Well, I used a electronic prop protractor and it shows 51.2 degrees. I'm gonna have to work on it this weekend and see if I can get it closer to the 45 degrees**)**)

Just go to the hardware store and buy a degree finder. Just put it on the outside of the windshield and read what it says. Or, set your car outside and just look at it from the side and adjust your windshield to where it looks the coolest.

The electronic prop protractor is a degree finder and yea, I thought about the looking from the side idea.......may try it:rolleyes:

When I corrected mine after driving it for a few years, the bottom seal had damaged the paint. I had to repaint the section under the old windshield location.
