Hood/Trunk Prop Rod
Hi,
Anyone have any good ideas, suggestions or resources regarding a prop rod for the hood and trunk. Thanks Jim |
Why not try a wrecking yard?
Measure the exact length needed, and see where you want to mount it, what type of mount you need, etc... these are high quality steel, I would not use just a simple mild steel rod for such an app, myself .
Look for the prop in: Japanese or American compact cars, sports cars. |
Cobra Restorers has the original style hood rod at the best price I have found and the prop rod from Finish line works great for the trunck.

if you're not looking for authenticity...
What about a gas strut, like used for hatchbacks. I know there was a thread on here in the last couple months regarding that.

I was going to use the gas struts until reality set in. The struts are always under pressure, even when closed. They may put a slight bow in the hood where it is bolted on. Now I'm looking at other ways.
