Full Width Rollbars

I read a message in another portion of the Forum indicating that Single Hoop roll bars are possible going to be banned from Track Events. I will most likely desire to do track events, and do not like the look of two hoops. Does anyone have a full length roll bar on their B&B? Any pictures? Any mounting advice?

I was pursuing the same topic a few weeks ago (off this site). Basically, I was trying to figure how a "switchable" set-up could be done, since I also like the single hoop look. It seemed possible to design three plugs on the frame, two close together, to accept a single hoop, and one stepped out to the right to pick up a full-width bar. The question of the rear brace does raise another problem, however: would it have to be central to the full-width bar? Fiberglas techniques (on boats) easily can produce "pull plugs" in the same body or gel-coat color. This would mean that you could go from the double-bar to single, with the only eveidence of the switch being a small, circular, flush-mounted plug. Cost might become an issue, but I'm not sure.

I still, for the life of me, can't figure why you would need a double (or full width) hoop if you're driving solo. We're now a nation being run by risk-averse sissies, I guess. (Watch THAT comment draw fire!) Duck and cover time!

Let me know if you come up with a solution.

You guys are refering to my earlier post about roll bars. I think the problem is that back in the sixties Cobras on track were driven by mostly competent racers who knew how to drive a racecar before they ever saw a Cobra. Today we have a bunch of Yahoos (me included) driving these semi racecars on tracks at speed with little or no experience. Guys are getting hurt because they are clueless about the handling dificulties of these little homebuilt deathtraps. (that also includes street driving).
We read here almost daily about difficulties in getting these cars insured. The insurance co.'s know we are out there and they probably know we take these things on the track.

If you don't want to do track time, that is alright with me but if you do than use the best protection you can build into the car and that is not a skimpy little single hoop. You need a full width bar and also side protection. You owe that to your wife and kids.

Geeze I'm starting to sound like Kputz.
