Front Sway Bar
Is anyone using the B&B front sway bar? If not, do you wish you had it? I am contemplating wether I need to install it or not.

I'm not running one...did it come from B&B? If you got it, i'd go ahead and run int..couldn't hurt anything. Handling is not a problem...this thing drives GREAT! Send photos once it's in...i'd like to see it. blake |
I have one but am not on the road yet. IT does cause some minor fit problems with the B&B radiator at the bottom and the tires come very close to hitting it with 8 in rims. When I requested one Darrell suggested that I did not need one but I got it any way.

Mine is a West Coast..
But I have a front and rear sway bar. I cannot imagine not needing them, as the body would roll under hard cornering without them. What road race type car does NOT have them? anyone? :confused:

I bought one almost two years ago from a company in Washington State. It has a 1" diameter and installs easily. No clearance problems. But, you have to make your own brackets out of 1/4" X 1 1/2" wide flat steel. I have ran my car on a road course without them and then with the frt sway bar and I had a lot more control with the sway bar. I also had a rear sway bar which I have taken off because I am not sure I needed it. A sway bar will 'tighten' the end you put on in most cases. The Cobra with it's different fron and rear track can be a different story.
They will also let you run softer settings on your shocks and allow good roll control. So you can get a better ride and not degrade the handling. My car is very neutral without sway bars, but I could retain the minimal body roll I have now and have a more compliant ride. The trick is finding the right size for the front and rear to maintain the neutral attitude in the corners given the difference in the track and mounting points. Clois' car for example will keep the inside rear tire in better contact with the track with the front sway bar on. These are real basic explanations, I am sure there are others who can explain in depth and make better sense than I do. I need visuals to explain things. |

Personally, I cannot imagine running without roll bars front and rear.

I don't have a B&B Cobra but I played with sway bars until I got the feel I wanted. I like my car just a little on the loose side so I have a large sway bar in front and a smaller one in back. With the ones I now have and the 12 way adjustable coilovers I can pretty well get whatever feel I like for any type of road. But it really comes down to how you feel with the car and how it handles for you. However I am a believer in sway bars.
