Side Pipe

Hello all; I have a question..

How much space did you all give for the side pipe to exit out the body? I have a bout 3/8" around mine. Do I need to go with a larger gap? I just don't want the paint on the body to get damaged from heat. I am running a small block 306 and the headers and side pipes will be coated.

If all goes well it will be leaving for paint the first week of June.

Thanks

Fred

3/4" is what I have seen recomended in pictures & diagrams. 3/8" is a little close and may allow the paint to blister.

Thanks. I thought it was a little close. I will trim it out a bit..

Tom;

Yes I have been going full till here. I have had it 7 weeks now.

I welded the roll bar today and got the side pipes mounted.. I have to do some more fitting on the right hand door and the side pipe cut-outs yet as well as do the trunk latch.. There should be a driveshaft for it next weekend and then the first test drive before I rip it back apart so my friend can shoot a little color on her.. Gotta get her done so I can get another one.. I am going to go and get a mid 80's 351W next week so I can start building for the next one ..I want to do a stroker next time.. HAHA..

Fred
