I like the picture of your engine. What type of alternator bracket did you use? Is that a standard ford alternator? Mine was originally mounted on the drivers side, and I got the Mach bracket that required that I move it to the passengers side. It has been nothing but trouble since. Also, what kind of wire looms are those?

As far as the alternator bracket goes the top is the standard 289/302 bracket for the right side which I just flipped over and made spacers for. The lower bracket I fabricated from 1/8" X 1 1/2" flat steel, 7/16" hardened threaded rod, 3/8" NPT pipe. It came out nice, and works like a champ all the way to red line.The alternator is a GM one wire, but your Ford alternator will work just the same. I will try to get out there today and snap a few closer pictures and send them to you. I put the alt on the left for clearance reasons and to keep most of the wiring down the left side of the nose. The wire looms are Moroso, I used 2 sets because I needed 3 brackets for each side. The kits even come with the loose wire seperators that you see near the front of the valve covers. I hand made the wires from a universal set of Accel 8 MM spiral core. Fred |

The wheels in the picture are my friends. I just borrowed them until mine come in. The actual wheels will fill the wheel well with 275- 50- 15" in the rear and 225 -60- 15's in the front.
They are US Wheel Chrome Stars 8 " & 10 " with 5 & 5 1/4 back spacing. |

ANd yes I did side step the clutch @ 4000 actually .. Better to break it now then later.. I will probablly never do it again. The only casualty was the wiper motor which flew out of the car and I ran it over... OOPS.. I took it off because the car is leaving for paint this weekend and I had it sitting on the floor, the cable worked it's way out the cockpit and under the rear tire...So far it is my first and last case if the stupid. BTW it performed quite well, but I need to re-curve the distributor a bit.
Stroked 351 huh! I have a 79 351 on the stand I hope to build for my next one.. How do you like it? |
I love the stroker. You can see the dyno curves in my gallery. But, this is my first cobra and I don't have much to compare. The damn thing does everything I ask of it and more on the street and track. Now maybe if I had more rubber, I'd want more steam, or if I thought bragging rights were important. But as it is, I'm a happy camper and just want more driving time...

Looking good, I have a question you have a narrowed 9 rear. Did you have it done or did you purchase from B&B? I need one and not sure what to do.

Are you running an MSD ignition controller? If so, where did you mount the box at? I had mine inside to fender on the footbox, nice and hidden, but everyone said it was gonna be to hot there. Looking for ideas.

Mine is mounted under the dash, against the fire wall, centered. Thats the way I have always seen them done.:MECOOL:
