Fan question
I am considering my fan options for my 351W. I am installing the aluminum Griffin radiator supplied by B&B. What are you all doing for the fan set up? I am thinking an electric puller but not sure if a 16" will fit. What about a shroud?

Hi Rob. Yup, we use the 16" puller. But no shroud.

I used a Scotts 16", and it has its own shroud. But you don't want to use the supplied nylon through-the-radiator ties to mount the fan. Puts holes in rad. Use a fan mount bracket, parts store variety (Pep boys, Trak, etc.), and make brackets to mount to rad frame.
Ron Francis (wire-works.com) has fan control sensor and relay kit. Sensor mounts in intake manifold, just above water outlet in head. Works very well. Fan on at 205*, fan off at 180*. With a 180* thermostat, fan should never come on while highway driving. |
OK, thanks for the info. I have read a number of posts in other forums and most suggest a shroud. I assume it increases the efficiency, but the two posts here disagree. Is there a downside to the shroud?

Just wanted to say thanks for the help, these forums are great help. I have the parts and I am waiting for the welding to be fininshed on the alumunum radiator (fan brackets) for the install. Thanks again.
