I tried several different methods to mount the seats and to level them. Bottom line was that I used washers to level all four corners where needed. I think the back corner nearest the transmission tunnel on each side was the highest point. I cut the pad and carpet away from the location of each set of washers. I used only enough washers at the high point to avoid compressing the carpet and pad. I glued the washer sets together with silicone to better manage all of the washers. I also used 5/8” washers to provide plenty of play and a thicker washer. I used 5/16” bolts to mount the seats. I wanted my seats as low as possible as the top of the seats were coming close to the body and I needed room to get the seat belts through with the proper angle. I used the seat adjustment tracks that B&B provided and intended to mount the passenger side on 1” square tubing to mimic the height of the adjustment tracks. I tapped the floor pan on the passenger side and fender washers through elongated holes in the seat pan for plenty of adjustment. For the driver’s side seat tracks I bolted through the track with carriage bolts and likewise into the seat pan using fender washers and elongated holes in the seat pan. I eventually eliminated the 1” square tubing on the passenger side as it just made the seat sit too high. The track on the driver’s side will work with much effort. It hangs on the carpet. While I could mess with it and make it work better, we find we don’t want to move it anyway. My wife only drives on rare occasions and seems to be able to manage with the seat all the way back. My advice: level with washers and bolt both seats in permanently. Don’t worry about adjustments. It’s only one more thing to deal with. Rob |
