Side pipes?

Side pipes?
The side pipes don't fit very well. You can't use 3/8 hardware, the size of the holes in the side pipes. I had to use 5/16 to get enough play to get the side pipes into the correct position.
Also are you guys mounting your pipes solid? That is not going to have any flex for the motor to torque! I put a rubber bushing in between the mount and the pipe. It gives it a slight litte movement capibility. Maybe it's not needed but it sure looks like it does. The flange is probably where it would leak if some motion is there.

May I suggest two things, if you are mounting your motor w/ standard mounts, use rubber hangers on your pipes and don't solid mount them. Two, solid mount your engine, or strap it to the frame to limit all movement. Also I noticed your sidepipes are for a big block. Generally the sidepipe tubes match the header size, (just an observation)

It took a bit of work to get the pipes to line up. Looks like you have a small block with big block side pipes (i posted a few pics on my build page). Bolted the side pipes to the headers and aligned them before I welded the engine and transmission mounts. Seem like a very small move (left or right) at the transmission mount made a major change in the side pipe line up. Used rubber engine mounts with limit strap and rummber gromet under side pipe mount.

my kit came with red hard plastic grommets that sandwich the mounting bracket.

Hey duke, nice brakes.Did those calipers bolt right up or was the bracket modified ? have you tried them out ? you have a different master too ,what is it? do you have the part numbers? do ya, do ya.

I used the B&B 11" rotors and tubular arms. Bracket came from Heidts (see my pics) and allowed the wilwoods to bolt right up. Mid priced improved brake solution and 15" wheels still fit. All brake and fuel lines are powder coated. GM master cylinder to move outlet for lines away from headers.

verrrryyy cool, how do they work ? are they the two piston calipers or four? peddle pressure is too high on my car so i will be doing something to fix it. Hopefully what you have done might work for me too.

Start Saving up for new pipes
I use 3/4" high rubber mounts.
Start saving up for stainless pipes. I assume B&B is still using chrome plated steel. They don't last very long.

Duke, in case you were wondering, there is no difference between the small block and big block sidepipes. They're all the same. The only difference is the coating. Paint, chrome, or ceramic.
