Need to Mount Alternator at 12 O'Clock

My built up 351W engine came with the alternator hanging off the head at about 7 or 8 O'Clock. High and Narrow frame rails of my B & B are in the way so I need to mount it vertically. My set up is V belt. I ordered a Summit SME-2003 and it doesn't fit. The Triangular bracket is just a little too wide and the spacers are all too long. Almosts seems like a measurement or machining issue on the triangle bracket. I can shorted the spacers and maybe even Mill out the bracket holes but really don't want to. Turns out there are about 5 water pumps Ford has used and I don't know which one I have except it doesn't look like the small block ones I see in most illustrations. What kind of information would you guys need to help me determine what mounting kit or bracket I could use to get my alternator moved. March has a $400.00 kit but I didn't want to covert the whole front end of the engine! By the way I have Edelbrock heads if that matters.
Thanks, Bob

i had the same problem.ended up with CHP set up and a v belt (still at 7o'clock) changed to a chevy alternator(one wire) and under 300$ for everything . look at my gallery.miladon high flow water pump.clock wise rotation.make sure you have the right rotation for your aplication.

Thanks PM, I think I will go this way too. I like the alternator being closer to the pulley's with the v belt.
