Brake Caliper Replacements

I'm looking to replace the brake calipers that came with my kit. They've been sitting for 5 or 6 years on the coast and were pretty rusty. I've had them sandblasted and had planned on painting them but in testing them out they just don't "feel" right. At this point, it woud be just as easy (and safer) to replace them particularly since a number of the parts that came with the car (from another person NOT B&B) have not been up to par.

I have the tubular front and rear control arms, 9" rear, 11" disc brakes and 15" wheels. If possible, I'd like to retain the rest of the setup and just replace the calipers.

Thanks.

Check my post on newby basics. There is a reply regarding Wilwood calipers. They can be installed using the stock rotors with an adapter bracket. I have since looked into this and have found you can upgrade the front with lightweight hubs, new rotors (same size) and calipers for a little over $600. I'm not sure about clearance with 15in wheels. It might be close. The calipers themselves are about $125 each plus the adapter. Check out Summit Racing. Let me know how it goes.

Thank MacGyver. I'll shoot Duke a quick PM to see if he can provide some feedback.

Caliper Upgrade.

The Wilwood calipers were a straight bolt with the B&B tubular suspension and fit behind 15" wheels. Bought the brackets from Hiedts. Part numbers on visible in the photo on my gallery. Calipers from local speed shop.

Thanks Duke,

Do you have the correct part numbers for the Wilwood calipers for the front and rear? Also, do the rears have a parking brake or is this something that needs to be ordered as a separate part?

Brakes

I bought the front calipers and rear assemblies from Speedway Motors. There are two big bearing Ford bolt patterns so you need to check on Wilwoods web site. I bought the wrong kit and had to exchagne it. Ended up using 140-6696 kit for the rears @ $605. Included rotors, calipers, and a internal drum type parking brake. I bought the Lokar cable to adapter. I will put a few photos of the rear in my gallery.

The fronts used the same caliper as the rears. Wilwood 120-6816 for a .81" thick rotor @$125. 4 piston forged Dynalite. Fits the B&B 11" rotor.
