side vent induction
I was looking at mounting my side louvers and had it facing the wrong way. It made me wonder if putting them in the wrong way, then plumbing that "forced air" to the carb would work.
Has anyone seen this or tried this? Any feedback on if it would work?
Thanks, Jim

I thought the hood scoop was for forcing in air? My guess is that the side louvers are to help vent the air coming up from under the chassis and cool off the exhaust heat. Make a custom air cleaner set up ala Ram Charger style for the hood scoop, or use the two front vents and snorkles. of couse if you leave the lovers the way they are and drive in reverse, that could work too!

heT side vents wre edesigned tole t hot air out. Over the years, lots of people (including CS) discovered they didn't work very well. Hood vents work a lot better.
Some people have also tried using the side vent as an intake port. That doesn't work well either. It's a small hole. And it's a flat hole. At speed, it becomes a negative pressure area.
If you enlarge the hole and put a scoop or dam behind it, it would work.

The key is to have a pathway for the air across the primaries. Doing this is in your wheelwell is one way (and it looks cool too;)).

I did the same thngi withmy car. But I did it to cool the foot boxes. It works really well, too. Mine are a little smaller, too.

That black duct tube at the top of my picture feeds the foot boxes with fresh air from the front of the car. Some guys put little in-line fans in the duct to blow it harder, but I haven't found that necessary.

the standard side vent area is a low pressure (suck area) that is suppose to pull the heat out of the engine bay. You want a high pressure area to feed your carb. The headlight area has the highest pressure area but obviously you probably want to use your lights. Which would leave the radiator area.
