Backdraft Repair shops

My mechanic told me to find someone in Orange County california who knows how to repair BDR cobras. I have a differential leak and a transmission leak. Does anyone have any sources?

If your mechanic can't work on these Backdraft's I would get another mechanic. These are not specialized to the point of seeking out a special Backdraft approved repair facility. You can always send me your Backdraft, Spf,BB, or any replica as for that matter. I'll work on it.

For a diff leak, you could take it to BMW repair shop.

For trans, anyone that works on hot rods should be able to fix it...probably even AMMCO could.

These are not rocket science automobiles. They have a pretty primitive design. As long as you know what parts are needed bmw, ford, roush, tremic, etc. Any old school mechanic can work on the car. I think where some are turned off is with those computer mechanics. no computer no diagnosis. Or they may be just intimidated of the car. These are exotic intimidating machines although basic in operation, it may turn a less experience mechanic off.

Note: And speed shop or hot rod restoration place may be a good place to start. JUST be careful, word of mouth is usually a good tool. You do want someone you can trust to work on the car.

I get your point, but I wouldn't take a lawnmower to Aamco.

Agreed, just like I wouldn't recommend buying a motor from SA. :)

I would recommend you find a good local garage. They can easily resolve most of your issues. The differential may not be an issue since these do have a weep hole at the top and often spit fluid out slowly due to a little overfilling. But a good garage can easily tell you that.

If you would like any specific advise, please feel free to call me...

I agree with most of the posts about how easy they are to get work done on. I am lucky here in San Diego as I got a shop that works on BMW's plus has experience working on all types of cars and the one mechanic is very Ford savvy.

If you want to come down this far I would recommend them.

Drop me an email

Nope, no secret, Frank has looked after my beast just fine and Mike is great.

Thanks for the referral, I think 2 years ago.

John
