Rearview mirror installation

1 Attachment(s)
On my first serious "shakeout" run today, the rearview mirror literally shook out of the dash.

From the looks of it it does not look like it was secured properly from the get go.

Question is, how do I re-set the posts into the holes in the dash? Glue?

If so, what glue do I use to set the posts back into the dash or do I have to remove the dash to install nuts and lock washers from the underside??

The screws are 4 or 5mm. So get a nylon lock nut and install the mirror. You will need two of course.

You can reach up from below and install the nylon lock nuts with a small fender washer on each of the appropriate size. Would not bother with the rivnuts again.

Thanks Bill and Jay!! Just wanted to know what works the best and didn't feel like trying it 20 different ways.
Also, didn't figure I could fit my fat hands  up behind the dash.

Rivnuts are history and now replaced by a fender washer and nylon lock nut on both sides. Solid as a rock now.
