Proud New Owner of BDR #880
2 Attachment(s)
I officially became the owner of the car today. I have to wait a few days for the car to make the trip here from Texas. Car was built with a Ford Racing 392 outfitted with 4 - 48 IDA Webers. Here's a picture the former owner provided in the ad.

Pic of the engine. Engine is advertised at Ford Racing as 475 HP with a Holley 750. Not sure about the Webers but I'm pretty confident the car will have plenty of power for me. :)

There's always somebody who has THE correct opinion. If the worst thing that happens is a snapped half-shaft, I'll consider myself lucky. Here in South Florida, I'm worried about bigger issues (like big cars piloted by blue hair).

Before you drive the car see previous threads on how driving a Cobra is different than driving other performance cars. Be VERY careful during the introduction period:JEKYLHYDE. Best of luck to you.

Diggin - how do you define South Florida? To some people that is Palm Beach County and to others it is the Conch Republic!! I live in Miami and have a few buddies with cobras (Unique & Backdraft - do they ONLY come in blue?).

You can get a BDR in any color combination you want. There's even one for sale up north that is Harley-Davidson orange w/black stripes, black leather interior with orange piping. Go to backdraftracing.com and look at their available inventory. There's quite a variety available right now.

There is a Ferrari car show in Naples on 5th Avenue this Saturday. Local South Cobra guy said there will be 400 cars ... mostly Ferraris - a few local cobras will be there. Tempted to drive over to see that many Ferraris in one place!!

Digginfool, you're gonna love this car. I remember building this car. It's absolutely beautiful in person. I know we'll miss her here in Texas, but I believe you are going to give her a nice new home...
Let me know if you need anything.
Congrats! James

Thank you James and thanks for talking to me about the car on the phone last weekend. I paid a little extra to have the car sent hot shot and it's supposed to be here today. Can't wait. Just hope I can get away from the office long enough to run to the tag agency to be ready to go cruising tonight! :D

Car carrier delivered my car tonight around 8:30. What a beauty! The Webers run pretty fat down low, especially when cold, but keep the Rs above 2500 and it stays happy. Also learned that you need judicial throttle use down low; too much throttle and the engine loads up but hold on when those Webers clear out. The 392 has a pretty clean idle, pulls very hard and sounds great. Who needs a radio! :3DSMILE: It was funny how many cars tried to race. I would just let them power on by while I eased through the gears. BTW, beautiful weather here tonight; 72 and clear.
