BDR Bolt on wheels
 
I have 15" bolt on wheels. Looking for the answer to holding/locking the threaded centers tight in the wheel from the BDR guys. Have some thoughts but would like the straight skinny from the group. I am sure this is a very old question.

What he said...Never heard of anybody having a problem with these. Mine fit very snuggly onto the center piece, so much so, that when I remove the set screws I still have to tap to get them off.

What he said...There are 3 screws and you have to be careful because they only line up one way. Never heard of anybody having a problem with these. Mine fit very snuggly onto the center piece, so much so, that when I remove the set screws I still have to tap to get them off.

I will have to look again, did not see any set screws except for the one in the knock off. Are they located inside the back of the wheel? I'll assume that the 3 screws keep the center locked and from rotating when the knock off is removed.

No there is nothing to keep the center from moving when the knock off is removed, that is what the knock off does ... since it is only an ornament and not actually holding the wheel on.

It was incorrectly reported to you that there are set screws which secure the threaded piece. It is a snug force fit, and I have had one come loose as well. I secured mine with a series of centering taps. I also used a liberal dose of silicone sealant around the seating edge. Seat it best you can before you put the wheel on, then when you install the wheel and knock-off, tightening the knock-off will finish the seating. Never had a problem with it since. I don't even bother with those small set screws on the knock-offs, if it's tight, with the rotation direction of the wheel, it won't come off.

Thought there might be somthing I was missing, guess not.

Like the silicone idea, black should setup ok. Will also look for a spring clip to hold it from the inside.
