Heat shield bracket

Just broke my second (different one each time) heat shield bracket in less than 200 miles.

At $45 each + $10 shipping this is getting expensive for a metal strap.

Backdraft Parts - Exhaust Heat-shield Brackets - Exhaust - Products

Anyone have a line on a more affordable option?

Stop buying replacements and find a competent welder to weld them up good for you.

Stop buying replacements, and figure out WHY they are breaking. If you don't figure that out, they will just keep breaking.

Where on the bracket are they breaking? How about a picture of your broken ones.

Most likely they are snapping at the welds. We battled a batch last year that were ground down too much on the inside and not welded from the top side.

You could always take off the heatshields. Most cars dont have them.

Jay is spot on. They are breaking at the welds. When you look inside the bracket it is visible there wasn't enough weld material left to hold the screw. The first replacement I bought looked totally different.

Steve-O... as with any part of the Cobra's, personal preference comes into play. I LOVE the look of the heat shields. The added benefit of not scorching my short legs is also enjoyed. :)

I like the heat shields, too. Form follows function. They WORK.
