I see, you are here on this forum preaching but you really don't know how it works...Most folk here would like to learn how things work. BTW, I was just playing with you...I know how things works regarding springs, shocks, etc. it's just funny to see you profess your "knowledge".

Good that you have your guru!

Hi, Ive done lots of searching but cant find anything in stone to confirm BDR Race Spring lbs. Can anyone confirm if the 450/900lbs mentioned on page 1 of this thread is true?

Backdraft Parts lists them but not their LBS. Need an answer urgently if possible.

Yes Ive emailed Reg...but no answers as yet. Matt

Kobura 03-17-2016 07:17 PM

It is a mystery why this data has not been made available to BDR owners by the 'Boynton Beach Boys' after so many years of discussion. My personal experience over the four years that I have owned my car is never having had a response on a technical question from the folks in FL. You may be able to get some assistance from VMS/Jay as I believe that they have suspension modification kits available and may be able to help you.

Well no answers at all back so it looks like I'll have to pull them and get them tested. Pain in the ar5e that is for such a simple question.

I have a set of front performance spring for my BD, they are 250lbs. stock are 215lbs. I want to go back to the stock springs. These are about 9 months old. Anyone want to trade. It would have to be a newer car and I need the mounting cups with them. Mine come with the mounting cups.

Maybe that's a good idea...you know, do your own homework!

What color are the springs? If I have a set we will measure them.

spookypt 03-22-2016 03:51 AM

Thanks Cashy. They're red. They're the race spec as per bdr parts store. The parts store lists them but not the poundage and to get my adj shocks valves correctly I need to know spring spec. Thanks heaps.

Hmmmm... I've been told race springs are either blue or yellow. The red are the stock springs. So that makes it difficult.

I have a set of blue springs I will see about getting a measure on since those were sold to us as "race springs".

Cashburn 03-22-2016 11:47 AM

So the blue race springs I have are 800#.

A set of red "stock" springs of a very recent car are 250# ... they used to be considerably firmer.

spookypt 03-22-2016 04:47 PM

Well that's a curve ball. Thanks Cashy.

The parts site shows them still as red.

Backdraft Parts - BDR Race Springs - Performance Suspension - Suspension - Products

Do they have the poundage stamped on the spring by any chance?

Just a FYI and more info for the discussion. Got this from Tony Martin in 2008 on request.

FRT SPRINGS

ROAD 11-12MM WIRE
RACE 13-14MM WIRE

REAR SPRINGS

ROAD 17MM
RACE 19MM

OK well I have found the answers. Thanks Reg.

The factory race springs (Mine which are RED) were rated at:

600 lbs. on the front
1000 lbs. on the rear

BDR found that the supplier of these factory springs was not very accurate on their spring rates and BDR have now switched to using Eibach springs on their race cars.

Seems the current race springs tech is:

450 lbs in the front
800 lbs in the rear. (Which would marry up to what you're saying above Cashy.)

We can now put this rest.... Matt
