I wrecked the right front of my car racing in Orlando the other week and I am search of a right front corner to graft in on my car in place of the damaged area.
If anyone has or knows where there is a damaged BDR that the right front is still good please contact me.

Thanks,
Kevin

Was the tow hook used for this? That GoPro should have some great footage?

I have a wrecked car, but they wrecked the same side as you.

That tow hook is too pretty to use... Actually no real damage to car outside of the figerglass, headlight and blinker.... I taped it up as you can see and ran the rest of the event with the car as shown in the pic.

Believe it or not I forgot to turn the GoPro on for that run as I was late getting to the car and forgot....

Well at least I know who to call when I smack the left side

Since you are tracking it, your best option might be to contact BDR in Boynton for the entire body. That way you will be prepared for the next time. Of course unless it is the same side.

I don't think sending $10,000 to Boynton beach when all I need is a small portion of the skin is exactly financially feasible.

Thanks,
Kevin.....

Dang Grey. Sorry to hear about that. Wish I could help. However, I am curious how hard it is to actually remove the entire body from our cars if you did need to replace the body with another.

It is not very difficult... These cars are simple. It is just time consuming.. But it all depends on your mechanical ability. I am in the middle of installing the FAST 2.0 EFI system with an alum fuel tank and an Aeromotive internal fuel pump... For some people that is easy, for some people it is an impossible task...

Kevin....

Thanks. We just got done adding one of those to a 67 GTX with a 440 in it. Not to bad overall. Just piping and fuel pump install for a return system. Gets to hot here for a return less setup.

Check out Craigslist. I saw a body kit and miss body parts for $1500.00 in Orlando. Might get enough off it for a pattern. Might be a good place to search.

Did you save the pieces? It would not be impossible to "stick" it back together, do the bodywork and splash a mold from it. You could then make the repair piece and have a mold to make more, if you ever need to.

Grey 65 05-14-2015 10:49 PM

Jimbo... I check out Orlando Craigslist... not a BDR, so shape isn't exactly the same.. Thanks for trying to help.....

Tom... Yes I have the pieces and I can glass it back together but it is in like 8 pieces, would be better to just cut it out and glass in a repair piece.... But that will be my worse case option...

Kevin...

Why not buy a whole front clip in case you wreck again. I would think it would be a lot less than $10,000.

mln385 05-15-2015 06:40 AM

The entire body with doors ,hood and trunk is $8500 plus shipping.
An option if one were looking at this as a hobby would be the whole body painted so when the inevitable were to happen it is a matter of time till it is back up and running. Then repair the other body and now you can cycle them through.

Yes this is expensive but open tracking the car does come with a price tag. Just an option,Bdr may just sell the front nose fascia as well instead of the whole front nose and fenders.

CobraDan 05-15-2015 07:08 AM

Reg Dodd brings in whole bodies to cut up, just to repair damage such as yours as they have about 2 accidents per month on Backdrafts.

I was in the stands when you made that infamous run. You seemed pretty upset at the time. I was there to watch a few cars before I ran my car in the autocross. After your run, I decided to drive it home instead. I though the concrete barriers were pretty close in that section.

There is a body shop in Saint Cloud that does all my small repairs on my Backdraft. Last time I was there, a FFR had been hit in the rear pretty bad. When repaired, it looked good as new.

The car is scheduled to go in the paint shop again on Monday. Give me a private email if you need info on this shop.

Like Dan said, they do take in cars to cut up for parts. BDR 687 went back with a crunched rear but the front was perfect. That was probably about 8 months ago though.

Grey 65 05-27-2015 07:46 AM

A front clip is $3,500 and a front R/H corner is $1,500 from Boynton beach.

I have been trying to purchase what I need from Boynton beach since prior to my post and I am STILL trying to buy what I need from Boynton beach.

Have any of you who are too far to drive to their shop ever tried to buy anything from them that is not listed in stock on their website? Heck I bought their race struts which the website showed as in stock and it took over a month to get them.

Cashburn 05-27-2015 12:50 PM

Kevin,
Just spoke to them. They have your part ready to go. Just pay them and wait for truck.
