Hood shock
First and foremost, thanks for all the help on my other thread regarding my issues with the clutch... In order to avoid changing subjects there, I would like to ask if anyone know which "shock" is used for the hood on the BDR's... Mine is not working anymore and won't keep the hood opened
Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement one?
Thanks!

Most I've seen have a prop rod instead of a shock. Curious to see a pic of your setup!

I will take pictures of it this weekend and post them... I also want to post some pictures of the car itself... I guess I should have introduce myself before just asking newbie questions :)

My car is brand new and it just has the prop rod. The coyote motor was a tough fit with the rod I hear. I was told they made it work, although it is tight to snake it around the valvecover.

the early cars had the shock, I have #98 and it has one. I was told to remove it and take it to AutoZone, etc. and they could match it. I also have heard they were never very good and the hood would slam when the wind blows.
Being a good KY hillbilly, I found that a small twist adjustable curtain rod works great as a prop rod. The have rubber feet on each end, and can be adjusted to use where you want under the hood. Also available in multiple finishes.

I found a replacement hood shock that's an exact fit. I got it at Advance Auto and it is stock number E 4048. About $20 bucks with tax and its pretty strong. It would have to be more than a mild wind to blow hood over. Not too bad, I got almost 15 years out of mine which I know is not the norm.

Do you have pictures of yours! I would like to put a pair of shocks on my hood and need some information, how it would look. Some sizes would be great!
Thanks!
