Switching from Mechanical to Electric Fuel Pump

What all do I need? The wiring is in place already I believe, but which fuel lines are where (are there any hard lines?), where is the pump mounted, return lines, etc before I get it on the lift? I'm trying to blow it out in one trip.

Thanks!

Just run fuel tubing from the pump through a regulator to carb. If the electric is there you should be good with proper psi setting off regulator. easy peasy

Why swap to electric?

I'm trying to decide if I want to do a dedicated fuel cell/system in the engine bay or make the switch to everything electric.

Be aware of one down side; with most non-EFI engines adding an electric pump has a risk of hydro-locking the engine if the float gets stuck on the carb. I have seen this twice. The condition is this: the engine is not running, the key is on and the pump is running, the float is stuck so the pump is dumping fuel into one or more cylinders. This is going on but the owner does not know it because these add-on pumps do not shut off. The driver then attempts to start the engine, and it may fire for a portion of a turn. The engine then hydro-locks because liquid gas cannot compress and you break a piston or a rod. It is rare, but it does happen, and it's usually expensive.

When I put the electric pump on my Cobra for racing I also put in a toggle switch that I could flip to turn power to the pump off. That way I could work on the car with the key on and I always turned it off when I shut the car off. As the toggle switch wasn't marked and I just labeled it Spare, everyone thought it was just an unused switch.

Having a EFI Fast fuel system the computer controls the time the electric pump is on when the key is turned on. It also allows the pump to run while starting and running. I also installed a toggle switch to turn the pump on or off. This switch overrides the computer and must be in the on position for the pump to run. Just a safety thing I feel is necessary.

I was really trying to get backdraft specific answers as to where you are mounting pumps and what not. There is already a switch in place to turn the pump on and off.

I Now have everything ordered and ended up with an inline pump, going to try non return for now.

Inline pump with a carb is usually installed on fwd lower L/H edge of frame supporting the fuel tank.

Inline pump with EFI is usually installed on fwd lower center edge of frame supporting the fuel tank.

I am running the Aeromotive Stealth baffled in tank pump in the alum baffled tank. I installed the FAST 2.0 EFI system on my car.

I know you sent me a PM, but send it over in an email. My PM box gets clogged up here and just easier to correspond via direct email.
