Heated Seat Add On
 
Now that the cold weather is almost upon us here in NY, I was wondering if anyone has ever added the heated seat option, or if it is even possible on a car that didn't come with it (mine was bought from a Florida resident who had it built without it).

Thoughts? Thanks!!

Purchase some of the carbon seat heaters off eBay and have them installed. like these: 5 Gear Switch Seat Heater Carbon Fiber Heater Pad Heated Seat Cushion Universal | eBay

We have done it on some Superformance cars and they worked well. Any decent trim shop can install the heat pads in the seats.

Hey Bill,

Victoria Australia can get cold in the winter (no snow where I live) but cold winds and grey days.

Doug Pearce a renown Cobra builder in Melbourne installed them into a few cars recently and had the please of sititng in one of his cars on our annual Brass Monkey Run's last year....Quote, EVERY CAR I BUILD NOW WILL HAVE HEATED SEATS AS STANDARD.

My old Cobra seats needed re-trimming so I had heated incerts installed (e-Bay $100 each) with the controller/switch/wiring and they are
MAGNIFICENT. My partner loves them more thasn I do........

Jesus, Man up will ya ! Heated seats in a Cobra ?

Just go out and buy a Corvette.

Unless you're living in the Yukon, and you MUST drive your Cobra every day, you're giving a bad impression of a Cobra owner.

Screw him. I've spent my fair share of time in the wild in the middle of winter to appreciate not being cold if I don't have to be.

OP, heated seats are a must have if you like to drive the car late into the season. Get it done and you won't regret it.

OK, I'll answer seriously.

Make sure your battery and alternator can handle the load.

You'll need to add a relay and some heavy load lines right off the battery since it is unlikely your load/fuse center has space for them.

Thanks guys, lots of good ideas to explore, I thought the heated seats were a factory option and there might be a simple retrofit.

I'm glad I didn't mention installing a/c! I was considering it as it gets freaking hot in my neck of the woods, but I saw a cobra with what I thought might be that, and it looked ugly :(

Talk to Jay at Vintage Motorsports. he built mine with the heated seats. Its actually a "universal" kit they get and install. works GREAT.

Usually you can run a lead from either your mobil rfrigerator or the foot massager.
Get a few chemical hand warmers and stick'em in your pants.
