Sidepipes Service

We've finished setting things up to offer this if people are still interested. My biggest concern with it is the shipping in both directions. If we can nail down that process I'd be open to offering sidepipe modifications and upgrades for Backdrafts (must be a factory flanged pipe as we are not setup for the old slip fit styles or slip fits that were converted to flanges).

All pipes would be returned ceramic coated as we are not going to get into polishing here.

Let me know if there is still interest and suggestions on shipping methods including carriers and packaging.

Thanks

I definitely would be interested.
Mine are unequal as far a spacing off the body (left side does not run quite parallel to body) and turnout tip clocking is miss-matched L to R. (being #53 it is probably not surprising).

I would like some better mufflers.

Flat white if you have it available.

I'm hesitant because I really like the polished stainless.
I'm definitely interested because OEM glass pack replacements are $1,650

Could the pipes be zip tied to a pallet and LTL both ways ?
If the shipper didn't place anything on top, what could go wrong ?

If I was shipping side pipes I'd build a wooden crate, large enough to hold both side pipes - kind of like a small casket. Simple 1"x2" or 2"x2" framing, covered with thin plywood and glued and stapled together. Put the pipes in with plenty of packing (e.g. bubble wrap) to protect them and keep them separated. The lid / top panel can be screwed down w/o glue so the receiver can take the lid off, then screw it back down for return shipping.

This would obviously be heavier than cardboard or other, simpler packing, but would also protect the pipes a lot better.

Just my $0.02

When I shipped my sidepipes for a ceramic coating the UPS Store assembled the corrugate container, with internal packing for protection.Since they viewed the sidepipes, made the shipping container and provided the shipping, UPS fully insured including the cost of the pipes and coating upon return. Same corrugate container used for return, no damage.

That correction needs to be done on the car. We will only be offering to factory flanged pipes (late style) as that is the closest we can get to consistency.

The coffin concept is good, but I'm hoping to not have the shipping outprice the service. Believe it or not we received a set of pipes in a ton of bubble wrap once with a plastic wrap around that and they came through mint. I just think that was a one time opportunity though.

I'm going to look into some type of hard case that can be returned perhaps.

Thanks cash. I may be able to correct it by loosening all the collector flange bolts.

I'll probably just go with a set of Flowmaster Slimline mufflers so I can lose the heatshields.

If you're not first, you're last - my Daddy used to say

Looks so good without pipes

Thanks, the results are amazing.
The polish is going to take a while, so final results are pending
