Hood and trunk latches

Hello!
I don‘t have the keys anymore for the hood and trunk latches lock!
Is it possible to change just the locks in the latches or do I need to buy a complete new set? I hope someone can help with that, because the latches are powdercoated black and i would like to keep them instead of a new set.

Thanks from germany

Marc

drive down to your local locksmith and see if they can make new keys.

I had a set made from my local locksmith. Not a problem.

Ok thanks!
I will try to get some keys at a local locksmith!
Will tell if it works!

Today I went to a locksmith and they told me, that they can‘t make a new key for the latches, because they need 1blank key and 1 old key to replic it. Also is the problem, that they need an blank USA key and they only have german blank keys.
Who is the manufacture of the backdraft hood and trunk latches and is there a number on it to order some new keys?
Thanks for help!

Mine has WBH marked on the keys Weston body Hardware in the UK.
Link is here:B20
But I have a very early car.

I'd contact Backdraft parts and ask who their vendor is. (Chances are since you have a late build# the vendor has not changed.)

Probably the simplest route would be to order a complete chrome latchset from Backdraft Parts. https://www.backdraftparts.com/produ...-lock-set.html
They show out of stock but their sister website does show instock.
https://www.iconicparts.com/three-lock-set.html

Pull the snap ring off the base and cannibalize the lock tumbler sets for your Black Powdercoated handles. You'll end up with silver lock centers on the handles but they'll eventually get silver scratches in overtime anyways.

Thanks for that info spdbrake!
I probably have to do it like you said!

My keys are marked "WBH" also, and my car is 6 years old. Nice to learn about Iconic Parts as an alternative to BDR Parts.

Well, DUH! I just noticed that Iconic has the same address as BDR, so one can assume that they under the same (mis)management.

Yes. They went to this some time back... apparently in an effort to try and begin providing parts for Backdraft and Factory Five cars... although I just noticed their website no longer specifically references FFR cars... where initially... I swear I remember it did. Now the categories are "Backdraft" and "Replica".

For what it is worth, these keys look exactly like the keys from my MG Midget back in the day. Perhaps an MG key blank is on the radar over there?

Warning: Trunk latches/hood latches if you have an early car 1st generation check the hole mount spacing old cars 43mm or 1-11/16 more or less. The trunk latch, I just rec'd from BD/Iconic Parts is 38mm!!!! Will you be as pissed as I was on the 5mm difference since i didn't notice until after I cut the shaft and tried to mount it, damn!! Happy Easter.
