I installed Hawk HPS on my standard ERA 2 piston fronts which improved the performance over the original pads. Would still like more but will not go away from my 15" wheels so I think my options are limited. Trying to decide between Baer and Wilwood. I believe 11" is my maximum rotor. ??
Recommendations certainly appreciated.
BTW, my track days are behind me but I try to do lots of "spirited" canyon carving.

I believe they only make them for their own calipers (Wilwood).

Brake pads, this is not a smart aleck or know it all post, just a bit of a warning to be careful for those that might not be aware. "Racing" brake pad compounds, in any form are very seldom safe or good in street use, especially in a light car like our Cobras. The usual complaint is that the car just doesn't stop as well as it should. Road racing pads are made to work at specific temperatures an it's very high and virtually never reached in a street car. That's one of the many reasons there are several "warm up" laps in a road race, with riding the brakes and speeding up and hard pressure on the brakes prior to the start of a race, getting as much heat as possible in the pads and rotors. You never have a chance to do that in a street car so the racing pads never reach the proper temperature to really work. Especially true if you are cruising down the freeway with lots of cool air flowing over the brakes and some idiot puts you in a situation of a sudden stop, racing pads just won't work well at all. Last thought, we used to buy pads by the case for street races and changed them every session out, all of them......the pads were the cheapest, softest pads we could buy, but they would work immediately, no warm up required. They didn't last long, but that's a who cares situation so it worked well and we won a lot of races with cheap parts. Long post, but the message I hope is just be careful with racing or ultra high-performance pads made for heavy cars as they can be dangerous on the street and you just might not need them in a street Cobra.

Correct! Good Response...

EBC red stuff are great clean and work from cold pads...

As for function, my superformance brake system was transformed by the addition of a vacuum accumulator in line with the vacuum line from the intake. You may want to take a look at this line and make sure it’s well sealed and isn’t crimped anywhere. Also if you’re running a low idle and hence have low vacuum you’re brakes will be real stiff...if you’re coasting to a stop in neutral do they work better if you use one foot to hold revs up a bit?
Am Accumulator will solve your issues if so...

My wife thinks I bleed every time I'm doing something in the garage - whether I'm working on brakes or not.:LOL::LOL:

If you need a vacuum pump to improve brake assist we have very good success with this unit, effective and quiet: https://leedbrakes.com/p-33752-leed-...pump-kits.html

Bob, no that is my garage. Like to keep my surroundings uncluttered and clean. Behind the white door is a small room where all my tools are kept...

After the brake bleed, my brakes are still squishy and soft. This is the master cylinder and brake booster in my Backdraft (2018 model). Anyone have an accurate suggestion which model it is? I would like to replace with new.

bobcowan 04-17-2019 08:10 AM

I replaced mine last fall with ATE PN 03-7750-5702. It fits a Porsche 944.

The actuating rod will be too long. You'll have to thread it further down the shaft a couple of inches, and then cut off the end. Not difficult, but you'll need the right sized die.
