CarFax Invalid
Interestingly I had never looked up a Carfax on my Backdraft as there was not a need. When I tried recently, Carfax could not recognize the VIN or their other lookup option, which is the license plate and state. Is this the same situation for all Backdrafts or is my situation unusual (registered in Florida)? Thank you.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that Carfax doesn’t keep a database on replicas of any kind.

Carfax only works with a 17-digit VIN.

Thanks guys, but the VIN is definitely 17 digits. I also thought CarFax worked through DMV records irregardless of the make or model.

It seems that CarFax only captures vehicles back to 1981 so I guess our vehicles are really considered 1965's etc. for their purposes. FYI, I also was not able to do a lookup on AutoCheck. I thought this might be interesting information for the group, for anyone looking to buy or sell a Cobra in terms of being able to explain this issue.

None of the event tracking places cover Cobras or any of the others. Check the ads in ebay and all the other places for the past 10 years. None have any "car fax" info. Those vendors simply don't track them. Even the originals. You'd have to ask them why.
