Stiff clutch pedal
Just got my backdraft cobra second one I have owned and the clutch is really hard to press any ideas? The last one wasn’t that hard at all. It’s a TK600 trans

so is mine I thought it was because of the heavy duty clutch needed for 600 hp.

That’s what I’m trying to find out is it normal ? Can it be adjusted?

I'm going to assume you have a classic, external master/slave cylinder combo with a clutch fork and not a htob. Flushing your clutch fluid is not going to fix the problem, but it will tell you if the pedal itself is somehow binding up. I just flushed the clutch fluid on my ERA this weekend and I can tell you with absolute authority that if your slave cylinder bleeder screw is open then you can push the clutch pedal to the floor with two fingers (I actually use a broomstick). If the clutch pedal is hard to push, even with the bleeder screw open, then there is something binding up on the pedal linkage. If the pedal goes down to the floor nice and easy, and there is no binding up with the linkage between the slave and the fork, then the likelihood is good that the pressure plate is extra heavy. That's a relatively easy fix, but you'll have to yank the transmission off the engine and pull the bellhousing off. On an ERA, that's an afternoon job as you don't have to pull the engine. I don't know on a Backdraft, but just ring up blykins and ask him what sort of clutch he would recommend. Anyway, that's how I would diagnose it.

Thanks Patrick that makes sense, maybe I’m just not as strong as I used to be making a heavy duty clutch not for me. Maybe it’s time to hit the gym as an alternative.

I will say it takes some getting used to but, I now have no problems with my heavy clutch. Give it some time you will be ok.

how much fluid is in the master ?
