Wilwood Front Brake Installation

Has anyone installed the Wilwood front brake kit on a later model BDR with the new style pin drive hubs? The installation instruction show the old style with the knock-off adapter mounting on the face of the rotor hat.

Will mounting the rotor hat on the outside of the pin drive affect rotor/caliper centering or did Backdraft account for this by adjusting the length of the hub?

Also is the center hole of the rotor hat large enough to fit over the center hub of the pin drive?

I called Wilwood. They told me to call Backdraft. I wasn't completely confident is the answers I received.

You might get ahold of Shelby in Las Vegas. The spec racers and the full comp Shelby cobras built by Finish line, a Shelby dealer, had Brembo brake package which worked very well. I have them on csx4163. Have Wilwood on Bennett car but may be different than Backdraft, I don't know.

The fronts are are still stacked under the peg drive adapters.

I'd PM 1swtride who owns this car regarding the back though since I don't know if the rears will fit over the integral hub/peg drive assy. He's sheared a hub already so should be familiar with the assy. I'm pretty sure they will fit over the hub as the bore looks larger for the rears on the Iconic site. https://www.iconicparts.com/wilwood-brake-kit.html

Thanks spdbrake for posting the link to that brake pic. It illustrates my point perfectly. While a new car #1591 still has the old hubs and separate pin drives on the front.

This is my front brake assembly. The pin drive/hubs are one unit front and rear.

Makes it pretty hard to stack the rotor under the drive.

I see as the kit instructions are for the older peg drive adapters I doubt it will work for your application.

Granted you could measure the disc hat bore and offset requirements and get Willwood make or sell you a set of hats. Your current calipers look to be the stock E36 units so at least those are not an issue.

But then your on the path. And modifying an already expensive kit with no ability to get a refund.

It may be easier to just return it and get a de-bugged kit from Iconic once its available.

Give Vintage Motorsports a call or PM Cashburn on this site. They know these cars inside & out and should be able to give you a definitive answer.
