Are Sidepipes Stainless?

I am a newbie here, and this is my first posting. I recently bought BDR #254 used, and I'm in the process of tweaking it up to suit my "mission".

In the process, I am about to install an Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 system onto the Ford Racing 351W that is in my vehicle. I have a friend who is a welding pro who will weld the O2 sensor bung onto the exhaust for me, but he is asking if these sidepipes are stainless, or if they are chrome plated. Mine are the "slip fit" variety with springs that hold them onto the headers. Does anyone know if they are indeed stainless?

Thanks in advance - it is great to see that there is a thriving online community for these amazing toys (I mean, transportation tools!)

Put a magnet to them, if it does not stick = SS

If you weld to header more than likely carbon steel.
