(not approved) STL PCA (Porsche Club of America) HPDE/DE

Information: I asked PCA St. Louis if the Backdraft Cobra with dual roll bars would qualify for their HPDE/DE event at Gateway (WWT) this April 16-18.

Their reply: "unfortunately we don't believe the Cobra Backdraft meets the safety considerations for rollover protection for Porsche HPDEs. Thank you for your interest."

All good! Not a bash but thought I'd get the information out for Backdraft folks (without a full roll cage) who were interested in HPDE/DE with PCA in the STL area.

I was a PCA Member for years (Sorry, sorry guy's ;) ) I had a nice 77 911S, that was a driver, Autocrosser, etc. So since I was a member and we had a track day @Pacific Raceways, and I was still racing my Alfa GTV, I entered to use it as a Tune & Test day, for the GTV, WELL after the first session, the Pres. quietly came over, and told me to put the Alfa back in the trailer, and go get your 911 :) I asked (WHY?) He said, it doesn't bode well that a little 1800CC Alfa is running faster than the 150K 6cyl. Porsches. So maybe some just don't like getting beat at their own playground :) Cheers TommyRot.

Interesting....I ran with the Porsche folks over at Putnam...that was the Indiana Porsche club. Of course, they tried to put the fear in me that if I came close to their cars or put anyone in danger that I would be removed from the track...well, they never got close to me :D Not saying I outran everyone of them, but, for the most part, it's weekender guys just out for a drive that happens to be a track. Bring your Backdraft 6/5 to WWTR. Gateway Cobra Club will have our own group. :D

As a Backdraft owner, a Porsche club member for 40 years,NY Metro Region, and an owner of a C8 Corvette. I inquired also for LimeRock. I can run my corvette in the DE, as others that have both Porsche and Corvette but they were reluctant to allow replica cobras. Thinking is, there are so many variables with cobras, ie, back yard built, that safety would be hard to guarantee.
