Remote Reservoirs

4 Attachment(s)
I finished installing the remote reservoir kit from Vintage. I highly recommend it. Make sure you get the correct hose and fittings because it is brake fluid. Here is a link to a very helpful video showing installation made by a Backdraft owner. I highly recommend getting the vacuum brake bleeder from Harbor Freight. You can bleed the brakes by yourself and it's very easy to use. This is what my fluid looked like after 8 years. Not good. I would be happy to answer any questions.

Is the third canaster for the trans fluid?

FredG 03-26-2021 06:47 PM

Third cannister.

Hydraulic clutch master cylinder.

When I had a Cobra, I often went to autocross and track day events. That meant replacing the brake fluid often. Conveniently mouted remote reservoirs were a must have. Those look great.

That is a nice looking indstallation. Will changing spark plugs be an issue?

Great job Fred, Clean install.

BTW Iconic sells a heat shield for the Brake and clutch masters. Works great to keep them from cooking in traffic. https://www.iconicparts.com/brake-he...ld-type-2.html

Looks good!

Heatshield.

At $95 and probably another 20 for shipping I think I will make one. I hope down the road VMS expands their online store. IMO there is a definite market for a certain components.

Spark plugs

I changed them before the install. I think it will get in the way a little but you can work around them.

Right you are there sir. <--MXC throwback. I bought mine a few years ago when I was in Field Service. Now that I'm back in a Hanger I'd do the same as you.

Or you can just reach around the well and fill them with out that thing being in your way when you need to check and tighten your header bolts. Was that high temp fluid? If nor I would recommend it.

Love the install should come from the factory that way. Do not feel to bad about your fluid I have seen 2 year old fluid look way worse.I like to change mine every year with a brand new unopened bottle of dot 4 . Also 120$ for machined billet with stainless hoses totally worth it . Thanks for the pics.

FredG 03-29-2021 08:46 AM

Factory install.

Thanks. I agree 100%.
