New Backdraft starter advice
Trying initial startup on my new Backdraft 427 Cobra and having starter issues. Everything appears hooked up correct, but essentially get one or two clicks out of the starter. Used a voltage tester and 12.8 volts at the battery terminals and 12.8 volts at the power and ground terminals on the starter. Ignition terminal wire shows 12.8 volts, but drops to .3 when trying to start, which I am told is normal. I am getting the same drop in voltage at the starter positive and negative terminals when trying to start. Is that normal? I'm not the world's greatest wrench, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hook up jumper cables to your battery and try to jump start it. Rule out the battery before looking elsewhere.

Make doubly sure that your battery ground is totally clean and tight. I also run a dedicated ground strap directly to my starter. If your frame is coated or painted, sand the ground mount down to bare metal. Might help. My 2¢

Had the same thought and replaced the smaller battery Backdraft supplied with a new 650 amp one, but no change. I'll give the sanding down contact areas a try. Thanks
