BMW E36 Suspension
For you guys experienced with BMW E36 suspensions in Cobras, what shocks do you recommend front and rear for best performance?
Thanks. |
Need more info to answer.
Are you trying to correct a problem with your car? Is it too soft or hard? What springs are you currently running? Are you looking to change the setup to race? A good answer will change depending on your goals for the car. Boudy |
Street performance and handling are my goals. I dont do any racing. I do most of my driving in connecticut, with lots of twisty back roads, some of which are pretty beat up on account of the winters.
The current set up is pretty good, although dealing with the uneven road surfaces here, it seems as the the rear springs have a bit too much travel. The front end seems OK. I have the ride height at about 1/2 of the available adjustment. The car came with gabriel shocks in the rear. I dont know what the front struts are. Thanks. |
Easy fix. Sounds like you need a little stiffer rear. Since you won't be racing and fine tuning, and all that crap, just replace the shocks with an inexpensive but adjustable coilover.

Thanks Boudy.
