Thanks for all your comments guys, I appreciate MOST of them and find some of the others amusing.

As to Veeight specifically-- from your one post to this Forum I take it you are new to our Family of Cobra owners and friends. That said. It appears that you don't own a Cobra yet. So maybe you simply can't relate to what it's like. Which is too bad.

As for my humility. At the age of 60, having owned 105 of the some of the world's finest and most desired cars during my lifetime. If I appear to be boasting a bit- you bet and damn proud of it. I've enjoyed all the cars I've had and the great people they have brought me in touch with throughout the last 50 years of owning cars.

My only regret at this point is that I wasn't able to keep them ALL.

Bragging maybe, but as long as I have been doing this I have earned the right! I've shown my cars at Shows from Coast to Coast over the years and have had some damn fine cars and have won many Trophies but the recent BEST OF SHOW award I just got for my Backdraft Cobra was my first and probably my last. So yes I am VERY proud of it. Few people every get that fortunate and I am "humble" enough to know that. That's why I am so proud to share my enthusiasm with my friends.

My hope is that one day you can also win such an award and then you'll know what it feels like. Let's ee then if you will want to keep it a secret and just throw the Award in the trash along with the other plastic.

I'm having fun and living each day as if it were my last. As I believe we all should. Life is too short and some days aren't all fun, so I believe we should enjoy those that are and share our delight with our friends!

Humbly- your car nut friend,
Doc

Geez Doc - Do they make a helmet to fit that oversized head?

You can buy the toys, but I guess humility must be learned.

your buddie, V8

Maybe you failed to notice this was posted in the Backdraft Racing section of the forum. Threads posted in this section are usually for the benifit of other BDR owners or prospects. In the future, if your not interested in BDR Cobras or owners experiences, maybe you should skip this section.

I suspect by the verbage of the post that Veeight is an alias for a current member. He is just hiding behind this identity. WOW. What a tough guy. Hiding behind a computer and an alternate ID.

Vee-Ate-

Doc is having the time of his life, and like I tell my relatives, "It's by-God my money, and I waited 35 years for this. Go pi$$ up a wet rope."

Yeah, little #139 is having teething problems, but they are being solved in a cordial and caring manner by automotive professionals that not only care about profit margins but their customers.

Hey, I didn't contract for a new Crown Victoria from Ford Motor Credit.

I contracted for a hand-built, very specialized, totally impractical automobile.

BackDraft didn't go looking for me.

I went looking for BackDraft.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Hey Doc, maybe you can make a set of those for the Cobra as well.:D

moneymanager 11-22-2004 01:40 PM

Actually I like the sound of my Cobra just the way it is without the cut-outs so I believe I'll probably leave it as it is. But I did think about it. HA

Yea, it might be TOO loud (did I just say that? )

elgecko 11-22-2004 02:04 PM

Hey everyone!!!
I'm in the process of buying a few of DOC's former parts from his rebuild to add to my project.
I'm hoping a little of his hard work and fun will rub of onto me. My wife is going to support my "ego trip" as soon as I get the kitchen cabinets built. And her only concern is that the Cobra "SOUNDS RIGHT."
It's great to hear that Doc has "found the sound".
The wife did ask me where the CD player was going to go. Should I tell her the truth now or wait till I fire the FE up???????
Ride on.

Veeight 11-22-2004 06:25 PM

Sorry Gang !

Doesn't look like I'm making a good first impression. My point is just this (appropriate as we approach Thanksgiving with relatives): I don't find self-aggrandizing, boastful, bragging, or attention hounding behaviour attractive in my own REAL family, so why is it now acceptable in this online "family" ?

Love the talk about Cobras....but could do a little less with the ego-centric points about "MY Cobra" "MY Shelby" "MY (insert let's impress others bauble here)"

No, I don't yet own a Cobra, so I guess I don't measure up to the humble man who's claims to have owned "105 cars."

One last comment - electric exhaust cutouts - and you're knocking "ricers" ? Sounds right outta "Pimp My Ride" to me!

Bring on the flames. V8 out.

Excaliber 11-22-2004 06:38 PM

Perhaps it's the sour grapes syndrome?

...after all it's not like Doc claimed to clean the clock on a Shelby or something. :D :D

(Ok, that was cold, but it was funny)!

BlackBDR 11-22-2004 07:33 PM

Doc,

Congratulations! Your website was fun.

John (Black BDR)

moneymanager 11-22-2004 08:07 PM

Dsprint2000 11-23-2004 10:57 AM

V8 - you haven't been around long enough to know what is OK or not for this "online family". I rather enjoy hearing of others triumphs with their vehicles. I also think those electric cutouts are absolutley *****'n.......gonna have to copy that idea.....

David

Dsprint2000 11-23-2004 11:00 AM

Awwww man - got censored.... That's b!tch'n......

Goober 11-23-2004 01:06 PM

Doc, your website is cool. You are truly a car nut and I hope you enjoy your rides. More power to you. I only wished I would have taken more pictures of all my old rides over the years.
Best wishes

Mark

moneymanager 11-23-2004 04:43 PM

Thanks for oyur nice comments. My websites and cars have truly been a source of lots of fun and enjoyment. I love to share them with others as you can tell. That's half the fun of it.

I too wish I had taken more photos back when I was a teen but I didn't even own a camera until later on in H.S. and only a box brownie at that. Ha

Take lots of photos and put them on the net so they will forever remain a detlight for all to see.

Thanks
Doc
