Brake light switch

To all BDR owners you may find an issue with the mechanical brake switch. Reg is reporting problems and I have experienced the issue myself. Now to find the best solution.? Reg is recommending a hycraulic type switch but that to has been problematic due to the heat from the headers. I am working through using a plunger type switch found at ron francis wiring for about 9.95 a simple but problem free? solution. Would need to add a bracket to hold the switch in place and drill or weld a stub to the brake pedal to have the switch rest against.

Anybody have a gfood solution?

The hardest part is finding something underneath there to attach to, theres nothing. I made up a bracket and attached it to the throttle bracket plate. It works but I don't know how long it will last also tight spot to get into and fabricate something.
The good part is if you can figure something out, the wires just pull off the pressure switch, you feed them back through the firewall and plug them into the mechanical switch and the lights work just fine with no modifications.

I used a motorcycle pull type switch attached to the clevis pin in the brake pedal, mounted on the cross bar next to where the steering column mounts. It seems to work well. My only concern is the current rating on the switch.

Tried the motor cycle thingy, couldn't get a clean spot to attach it.

I ended up with the pressure activated, inline switch. Closes when there is pressure in the brake line.

This will work on just about any car. If you want to do this, make sure you get the line Tee to connect the switch to the line.

They can be purchased from Pegasus Racing. WWW.pegasusracing.com

Hope this helps.

I love sailing and all, but I think you were referring to www. pegasusautoracing.com

Most of the wiring or gage places also sell them. Here's a link to a search on summit. click here

I was tempted to try a low pressure switch, but could not decide what thread size to use. Maybe someone here knows.

I stand corrected, they are going to use a new pressure switch.

Opps, my bad, wrong site. Sorry.

Well ended up fabricating a bracket. Drilled and taped the support under the dash. Bolted the bracket with the switch right in front of the brake lever. Voolo the problem goes away. PUURRRRFFFFect!...
