Clear rock gaurd on the Cobra nose, Is it worth it?
I am curently waiting for delivery of my Cobra. I am having clear rock gaurd put on the rear fender flares. I am considering on putting it on the nose as well. I am not sure if it will look OK on the nose, chips from rocks might look better. Also which areas of the nose do I use the rock gaurd on to balance looks and protection.

I'm partial to rock chips. I like to here them say CLICK when they hit the paint.
I call them "battle damage." A clear vinyl bra seems disturbingly like... wearing a condom in public. I paid and am still paying dearly for a car I can drive the u-know-what out of on my crappy Oklahoma roads and highways. Battle damage gives Gunrack... character. Kinda like my ugly self. Just my opinion. Keep in mind that I refer to the lower radiator cowling as my "curb feeler." Yeah, it's trashed again. I'm a chowderhead. UT |
The invincashield prefabbed units cover from about mid headlights down to inclued a wrap around portion for the upper nose.

After 2 years of a lot of driving, I don't have any evidence of rock chips on the nose of my car or the rear fenders. For sure, you don't have to look for a rock chip, but I've had people look hard before they could even fina the edge of the Invinca Shield.
Below is a shot of the technician applying Invinca Shield to the front of my car. In the process, he was developing the pattern for ERA noses. |
Go look at some Superformance cars. Most of them have it on the nose. Depending on the color of your car, it may be easy to see or not. Then again, depending on the color of your car, stone chips may be easy to see or not. Personally, I don't like the Invinceashield look on the nose. Unfortunately, stone chips show up on my car (patriot blue with a light gray primer). If my car had a black gell coat or black primer, the chips would be very hard to see.
I bought my car to drive the daylights out of it. Stone chips are a certainty. When I get too many to tollerate, I'll paint the car again. |
