Looking for facts about BDR
I recently bought a BDR and the manual that came with the car is pathetic. Does anyone have a list of information about the car that they could post. I am looking for all the details I can find. Brake fluid, Clutch Fluid, Antifreeze, Lug torque specs, how to adjust suspension, etc.

I think the best chance we have a getting one is to compile it ourselves. When I read a post and it contain parts information I always right it down. I beleive the brake fluid is synthetic, the clutch fluid I do not know. Antifreeze would be up to the engine installer. I know this does not help much but maybe we should start a thread titled specific BDR info please post if you have.

Brakes - Synth DOT 5
Clutch - DOT 3 Coolant - per engine install Lugs - don't snap 'em ;) |
I wish I had a manual. I got a bill. Everything I've learned has been from this forum. I've been reading for over a year now. Thanks goes out to everyone who has contributed. I'll try to add whenever I can. This forum doesn't like Apple computers I've found. It won't let me log in.
I had some trouble with the slave. I'm on my third. I found that the heat from the headers was boiling the Dot 3 fluid. I went with a 600 degree Dot 4 and radiant heat tape around the lines above and along the headers. When I called Reg about the brake fluid, he said 5.1, not 5. Basically check the color. Either purple or yellow. Scott |
Thanks for the replies. You are right there is lots of information here in the forums, but it takes a huge amount of time to read through them. I am going to start compiling a list of specs that I receive from this thread and others as I get the time to read. I will compile them into one easy to read list that I can make available. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Randy, Congrats on your BDR. The BDR has a lot of fine qualities and will be a great car when you are done. However, there will be problems. You may be fortunate enough to have just a few or on the other hand ...... A friend and I just finished building BDR Cobras so between the two of and the guys on this forum we can help relieve some of the frustrations. Reg is good about problem solving and sending parts when needed also. Give us a little more info on what you are doing.

Welcome Friend,
I got a spreadsheet of stuff that may help you...WITH PART NUMBERS! I should start selling this thing! Heck I even have bolt sizes! (Thanks to Vintage!) You have the cobra. Do you have a fully completed motor to install? Got a trans? DETAIL DETAILS!! Or emails! Sid Some Pics of my build : http://www.freebmw.net/mrfreeze/sidseat2/ |
BDR #43,
I had the same trouble with my clutch system. I replaced the entire system. Got the master a Wilwood from Summit and the slave from Napa. Then wraped the line in reflective heat shield. Then when I replaced my engine recently, while the headers were off I wraped them with header wrap. This should save the hydro clutch system. |
I have a manual in PDF format for the Venom that may be helpful to BDR owners. The cars are very similiar in design using the BMW suspension system. The manual addresses such things as dimensions, suspension adjustment, dash layout, lights, speedometer calibration, wheel alignment, adjusting ride-height, braking system, differential oil, and electrical wiring.
Send me your e-mail address and I'll forward a copy to you. |
